Wie geschrieben steht beim Propheten Jesaja — Siehe, ich sende meinen Boten vor dir her, der deinen Weg bahnen wird.
As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU,
WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY;

WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY;
Stimme eines Rufers in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des Herrn! Macht gerade seine Straßen! — ,
THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS,
‘MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD,
MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.’”

so trat Johannes der Täufer in der Wüste auf und verkündete eine Taufe der Umkehr zur Vergebung der Sünden.
John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Ganz Judäa und alle Einwohner Jerusalems zogen zu ihm hinaus; sie bekannten ihre Sünden und ließen sich im Jordan von ihm taufen.
And all the country of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
Johannes trug ein Gewand aus Kamelhaaren und einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Hüften und er lebte von Heuschrecken und wildem Honig.
John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, and his diet was locusts and wild honey.
Er verkündete: Nach mir kommt einer, der ist stärker als ich; ich bin es nicht wert, mich zu bücken und ihm die Riemen der Sandalen zu lösen.
And he was preaching, and saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals.
Ich habe euch mit Wasser getauft, er aber wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist taufen.
“I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Und es geschah in jenen Tagen, da kam Jesus aus Nazaret in Galiläa und ließ sich von Johannes im Jordan taufen.
The Baptism of Jesus
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Und sogleich, als er aus dem Wasser stieg, sah er, dass der Himmel aufriss und der Geist wie eine Taube auf ihn herabkam.
Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him;
Und eine Stimme aus dem Himmel sprach: Du bist mein geliebter Sohn, an dir habe ich Wohlgefallen gefunden.
and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”
Und sogleich trieb der Geist Jesus in die Wüste.
Immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness.
Jesus blieb vierzig Tage in der Wüste und wurde vom Satan in Versuchung geführt. Er lebte bei den wilden Tieren und die Engel dienten ihm.
And He was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan; and He was with the wild beasts, and the angels were ministering to Him.
Nachdem Johannes ausgeliefert worden war, ging Jesus nach Galiläa; er verkündete das Evangelium Gottes
Jesus Preaches in Galilee
Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,
und sprach: Die Zeit ist erfüllt, das Reich Gottes ist nahe. Kehrt um und glaubt an das Evangelium!
and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Als Jesus am See von Galiläa entlangging, sah er Simon und Andreas, den Bruder des Simon, die auf dem See ihre Netze auswarfen; sie waren nämlich Fischer.
As He was going along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen.
Da sagte er zu ihnen: Kommt her, mir nach! Ich werde euch zu Menschenfischern machen.
And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Und sogleich ließen sie ihre Netze liegen und folgten ihm nach.
Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
Als er ein Stück weiterging, sah er Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und seinen Bruder Johannes; sie waren im Boot und richteten ihre Netze her.
Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.
Sogleich rief er sie und sie ließen ihren Vater Zebedäus mit seinen Tagelöhnern im Boot zurück und folgten Jesus nach.
Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went away to follow Him.
Sie kamen nach Kafarnaum. Am folgenden Sabbat ging er in die Synagoge und lehrte.
They went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach.
Und die Menschen waren voll Staunen über seine Lehre; denn er lehrte sie wie einer, der Vollmacht hat, nicht wie die Schriftgelehrten.
They were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
In ihrer Synagoge war ein Mensch, der von einem unreinen Geist besessen war. Der begann zu schreien:
Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
Was haben wir mit dir zu tun, Jesus von Nazaret? Bist du gekommen, um uns ins Verderben zu stürzen? Ich weiß, wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes.
saying, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are — the Holy One of God!”
Da drohte ihm Jesus: Schweig und verlass ihn!
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”
Der unreine Geist zerrte den Mann hin und her und verließ ihn mit lautem Geschrei.
Throwing him into convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of him.
Da erschraken alle und einer fragte den andern: Was ist das? Eine neue Lehre mit Vollmacht: Sogar die unreinen Geister gehorchen seinem Befehl.
They were all amazed, so that they debated among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”
Und sein Ruf verbreitete sich rasch im ganzen Gebiet von Galiläa.
Immediately the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding district of Galilee.
Sie verließen sogleich die Synagoge und gingen zusammen mit Jakobus und Johannes in das Haus des Simon und Andreas.
Crowds Healed
And immediately after they came out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
Die Schwiegermutter des Simon lag mit Fieber im Bett. Sie sprachen sogleich mit Jesus über sie
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her.
und er ging zu ihr, fasste sie an der Hand und richtete sie auf. Da wich das Fieber von ihr und sie diente ihnen.
And He came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she waited on them.
Am Abend, als die Sonne untergegangen war, brachte man alle Kranken und Besessenen zu Jesus.
When evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed.
und er heilte viele, die an allen möglichen Krankheiten litten, und trieb viele Dämonen aus. Und er verbot den Dämonen zu sagen, dass sie wussten, wer er war.
And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
In aller Frühe, als es noch dunkel war, stand er auf und ging an einen einsamen Ort, um zu beten.
In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.
und als sie ihn fanden, sagten sie zu ihm: Alle suchen dich.
they found Him, and said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.”
Er antwortete: Lasst uns anderswohin gehen, in die benachbarten Dörfer, damit ich auch dort verkünde; denn dazu bin ich gekommen.
He said to them, “Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may preach there also; for that is what I came for.”
Und er zog durch ganz Galiläa, verkündete in ihren Synagogen und trieb die Dämonen aus.
And He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out the demons.
Ein Aussätziger kam zu Jesus und bat ihn um Hilfe; er fiel vor ihm auf die Knie und sagte: Wenn du willst, kannst du mich rein machen.
And a leper came to Jesus, beseeching Him and falling on his knees before Him, and saying, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
Jesus hatte Mitleid mit ihm; er streckte die Hand aus, berührte ihn und sagte: Ich will — werde rein!
Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”
Sogleich verschwand der Aussatz und der Mann war rein.
Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
Jesus schickte ihn weg, wies ihn streng an
And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away,
und sagte zu ihm: Sieh, dass du niemandem etwas sagst, sondern geh, zeig dich dem Priester und bring für deine Reinigung dar, was Mose festgesetzt hat — ihnen zum Zeugnis.
and He said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
Der Mann aber ging weg und verkündete bei jeder Gelegenheit, was geschehen war; er verbreitete die Geschichte, sodass sich Jesus in keiner Stadt mehr zeigen konnte; er hielt sich nur noch an einsamen Orten auf. Dennoch kamen die Leute von überallher zu ihm.
But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the news around, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere.
