Noch in Ägypten sagte der HERR zu Mose und Aaron:
The Passover Lamb
Now the LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,
Now the LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,
»Dieser Monat soll für euch von nun an der erste Monat des Jahres sein.
“This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you.
Richtet den Israeliten aus: Am 10. Tag dieses Monats soll jeder für seine Familie ein Lamm auswählen.
“Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth of this month they are each one to take a lamb for themselves, according to their fathers’ households, a lamb for each household.
Wenn eine Familie zu klein ist, um ein ganzes Lamm zu essen, soll sie sich mit ihren nächsten Nachbarn zusammentun. Teilt es euch so ein, dass genug Fleisch für alle da ist, aber auch nichts davon übrig bleibt.
‘Now if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his neighbor nearest to his house are to take one according to the number of persons in them; according to what each man should eat, you are to divide the lamb.
Sucht einjährige, männliche Tiere ohne Fehler aus; es können Schafe oder Ziegen sein.
‘Your lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
Bis zum 14. Tag des 1. Monats müsst ihr sie gesondert halten. Dann sollen alle, die zur Gemeinschaft der Israeliten gehören, die ausgewählten Lämmer in der Abenddämmerung schlachten.
‘You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight.
Sie sollen etwas vom Blut der Tiere in einer Schale auffangen und es an die Pfosten und den oberen Türbalken der Häuser streichen, in denen sie das Lamm essen.
‘Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.
Noch in derselben Nacht müssen sie das Fleisch über dem Feuer braten. Dazu sollen sie bittere Kräuter essen und Brot, das ohne Sauerteig gebacken ist.
‘They shall eat the flesh that same night, roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
Ihr dürft das Fleisch nicht roh oder gekocht verzehren; es muss über dem Feuer gebraten sein, und zwar das ganze Tier mit Kopf, Unterschenkeln und Innereien.
‘Do not eat any of it raw or boiled at all with water, but rather roasted with fire, both its head and its legs along with its entrails.
Lasst nichts bis zum nächsten Morgen übrig, sondern verbrennt das restliche Fleisch!
‘And you shall not leave any of it over until morning, but whatever is left of it until morning, you shall burn with fire.
Beeilt euch beim Essen! Ihr sollt für die Reise angezogen sein, Schuhe tragen und eure Wanderstöcke in der Hand halten. So feiert ihr das Passahfest — ein Fest für mich, den HERRN.
‘Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste — it is the LORD’S Passover.
In dieser Nacht werde ich durch Ägypten gehen und in jeder Familie den ältesten Sohn töten und auch jedes erstgeborene männliche Tier. Ich werde mein Urteil an allen Göttern Ägyptens vollstrecken, denn ich bin der HERR!
‘For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments — I am the LORD.
Das Blut an den Türpfosten eurer Häuser aber wird ein Zeichen sein, das euch schützt. Wenn ich das Blut sehe, will ich euch verschonen. Ich werde die Ägypter strafen, doch an euch wird das Unheil vorübergehen.
‘The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Das sollt ihr niemals vergessen! Darum feiert jedes Jahr an diesem Tag ein Fest für mich, den HERRN! Dies gilt jetzt und für alle kommenden Generationen.«
Feast of Unleavened Bread
‘Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the LORD; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance.
»Vom Abend des Passahfestes an sollt ihr sieben Tage lang nur Brot essen, das ohne Sauerteig gebacken wurde! Entfernt schon vorher alle Sauerteigreste aus euren Häusern! Wer in diesen sieben Tagen doch etwas isst, das Sauerteig enthält, hat sein Leben verwirkt. Er muss aus dem Volk Israel ausgeschlossen werden.
‘Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, but on the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses; for whoever eats anything leavened from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.
Versammelt euch am ersten und am siebten Tag zu einem heiligen Fest! An diesen beiden Tagen sollt ihr nicht arbeiten; ihr dürft nur eure Mahlzeiten zubereiten.
‘On the first day you shall have a holy assembly, and another holy assembly on the seventh day; no work at all shall be done on them, except what must be eaten by every person, that alone may be prepared by you.
So müsst ihr das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote feiern, denn genau an dem Tag, an dem die Festwoche beginnt, habe ich eure Stammesverbände aus Ägypten herausgeführt. Darum sollt ihr diesen Tag Jahr für Jahr feiern, jetzt und in allen kommenden Generationen.
‘You shall also observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this very day I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt; therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as a permanent ordinance.
Esst im 1. Monat vom Abend des 14. bis zum Abend des 21. Tages nur ungesäuertes Brot!
‘In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening.
Sieben Tage lang dürft ihr keinen Sauerteig in euren Häusern haben. Wer etwas Sauerteighaltiges isst, hat sein Leben verwirkt. Er darf nicht länger zur Gemeinschaft eures Volkes gehören, ganz gleich ob er ein Israelit oder ein Fremder ist.
‘Seven days there shall be no leaven found in your houses; for whoever eats what is leavened, that person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is an alien or a native of the land.
Esst also kein Brot und auch nichts anderes, das mit Sauerteig gebacken wurde, sondern nur ungesäuerte Lebensmittel, wo immer ihr wohnt!«
‘You shall not eat anything leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.’”
Dann rief Mose die Sippenoberhäupter der Israeliten und befahl: »Geht los, sucht euch je nach der Größe eurer Familien eines oder mehrere Lämmer aus und schlachtet sie als Passahopfer!
Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go and take for yourselves lambs according to your families, and slay the Passover lamb.
Fangt das Blut in einer Schale auf, taucht ein Büschel Ysop hinein und streicht das Blut an den oberen Balken und an die beiden Pfosten eurer Haustüren. Bis zum nächsten Morgen darf niemand von euch sein Haus verlassen!
“You shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning.
Wenn der HERR durchs Land geht, um die Ägypter zu töten, und das Blut an den Pfosten und Balken sieht, wird er an diesen Türen vorübergehen; er wird dem Todesengel nicht erlauben, in eure Häuser einzudringen und euch zu töten.
A Memorial of Redemption
“For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you.
Haltet euch für immer an den Brauch dieses Festes; er gilt für euch und alle eure Nachkommen!
“And you shall observe this event as an ordinance for you and your children forever.
Wenn ihr in das Land kommt, das euch der HERR versprochen hat, sollt ihr auch dort diesen Brauch bewahren.
“When you enter the land which the LORD will give you, as He has promised, you shall observe this rite.
Eure Kinder werden euch einst fragen, was dieses Fest bedeutet;
“And when your children say to you, ‘What does this rite mean to you?’
dann erklärt ihnen: ›Dies ist das Passahopfer, das wir dem HERRN darbringen. Denn als er damals die Ägypter tötete, ging er an unseren Häusern vorüber und verschonte uns.‹« Da warfen sich die Israeliten nieder und beteten Gott an.
you shall say, ‘It is a Passover sacrifice to the LORD who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians, but spared our homes.’” And the people bowed low and worshiped.
Dann gingen sie nach Hause und bereiteten alles vor, wie der HERR es ihnen durch Mose und Aaron befohlen hatte.
Then the sons of Israel went and did so; just as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
Um Mitternacht tötete der HERR alle erstgeborenen Söhne der Ägypter, angefangen beim ältesten Sohn des Pharaos auf dem Königsthron bis hin zum ältesten Sohn eines Häftlings im Gefängnis; auch jedes erstgeborene männliche Tier ließ er sterben.
Now it came about at midnight that the LORD struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle.
Der Pharao wachte auf, seine Hofbeamten fuhren aus dem Schlaf, ja, ganz Ägypten schreckte hoch in dieser Nacht. Überall im Land hörte man lautes Klagen und Weinen. Es gab kein Haus ohne einen Toten!
Pharaoh arose in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians, and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was no home where there was not someone dead.
Noch in derselben Nacht ließ der Pharao Mose und Aaron rufen und sagte zu ihnen: »Zieht so schnell wie möglich los und verlasst unser Land, ihr und die anderen Israeliten! Geht und opfert dem HERRN, wie ihr es verlangt habt!
Then he called for Moses and Aaron at night and said, “Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the sons of Israel; and go, worship the LORD, as you have said.
Nehmt eure Ziegen- und Schafherden mit, auch eure Rinder, ganz wie ihr wollt! Nur zieht los und bittet euren Gott auch um Segen für mich!«
“Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and go, and bless me also.”
Die Ägypter drängten die Israeliten zur Eile, damit sie schleunigst das Land verließen. »Wenn ihr noch länger hierbleibt«, sagten sie, »kommen wir alle um!«
Exodus of Israel
The Egyptians urged the people, to send them out of the land in haste, for they said, “We will all be dead.”
Die Israeliten nahmen ihre Backschüsseln mit dem ungesäuerten Teig, schlugen sie in ihre Gewänder ein und trugen sie auf den Schultern.
So the people took their dough before it was leavened, with their kneading bowls bound up in the clothes on their shoulders.
Auf Moses Befehl hatten sie sich von den Ägyptern silberne und goldene Schmuckstücke und Gefäße sowie schöne Gewänder geben lassen.
Now the sons of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, for they had requested from the Egyptians articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing;
Der HERR hatte dem Volk Israel ein so großes Ansehen bei den Ägyptern verschafft, dass sie auf ihre Bitten eingegangen waren. So nahmen die Israeliten von den Ägyptern reiche Beute mit.
and the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have their request. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.
Sie brachen auf und zogen zu Fuß von Ramses nach Sukkot; es waren etwa 600.000 Männer mit ihren Frauen und Kindern.
Now the sons of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, aside from children.
Auch viele Nichtisraeliten verließen mit ihnen das Land. Die Israeliten nahmen ihre großen Ziegen-, Schaf- und Rinderherden mit.
A mixed multitude also went up with them, along with flocks and herds, a very large number of livestock.
Unterwegs backten sie aus dem ungesäuerten Teig, den sie mitgenommen hatten, Fladenbrote. Weil man sie so plötzlich aus Ägypten vertrieben hatte, war keine Zeit geblieben, den Teig durchsäuern zu lassen und sich mit Proviant zu versorgen.
They baked the dough which they had brought out of Egypt into cakes of unleavened bread. For it had not become leavened, since they were driven out of Egypt and could not delay, nor had they prepared any provisions for themselves.
Insgesamt hatten die Israeliten 430 Jahre in Ägypten gelebt.
Now the time that the sons of Israel lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.
Auf den Tag genau nach 430 Jahren zogen alle Stammesverbände, die zum Volk Gottes gehörten, aus Ägypten fort.
And at the end of four hundred and thirty years, to the very day, all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.
In dieser Nacht hielt der HERR selbst Wache, um sein Volk sicher aus Ägypten herauszuführen. Darum sollen alle kommenden Generationen der Israeliten in der Passahnacht dem HERRN zu Ehren wachen.
Ordinance of the Passover
It is a night to be observed for the LORD for having brought them out from the land of Egypt; this night is for the LORD, to be observed by all the sons of Israel throughout their generations.
Der HERR sagte zu Mose und Aaron: »Für das Passahfest gebe ich euch folgende Anordnungen: Grundsätzlich gilt, dass Ausländer nicht am Passahmahl teilnehmen dürfen.
The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “This is the ordinance of the Passover: no foreigner is to eat of it;
Wenn ihr aber einen ausländischen Sklaven gekauft und ihn beschnitten habt, dann darf er von dem Lamm essen.
but every man’s slave purchased with money, after you have circumcised him, then he may eat of it.
Fremde, die nur vorübergehend bei euch leben und sich nicht eurem Volk anschließen, dürfen jedoch nicht an der Mahlzeit teilnehmen. Dasselbe gilt für ausländische Lohnarbeiter.
“A sojourner or a hired servant shall not eat of it.
Ihr müsst das Passahlamm in demselben Haus essen, in dem ihr es zubereitet habt. Bringt nichts von seinem Fleisch nach draußen und zerbrecht ihm keinen einzigen Knochen!
“It is to be eaten in a single house; you are not to bring forth any of the flesh outside of the house, nor are you to break any bone of it.
Die ganze Gemeinschaft der Israeliten soll das Passahfest feiern.
“All the congregation of Israel are to celebrate this.
Wenn jemand, der aus dem Ausland stammt und bei euch lebt, mir zu Ehren mitfeiern will, soll er jeden Mann und jeden Jungen in seinem Haus beschneiden lassen. Dann gehört er auch zu eurem Volk und kann wie jeder andere Israelit am Fest teilnehmen. Ein Unbeschnittener aber darf auf keinen Fall vom Passahlamm essen.
“But if a stranger sojourns with you, and celebrates the Passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near to celebrate it; and he shall be like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat of it.
Für die Einheimischen und für die Fremden, die sich euch angeschlossen haben, soll ein und dasselbe Recht gelten.«
“The same law shall apply to the native as to the stranger who sojourns among you.”
Die Israeliten folgten den Weisungen, die Mose und Aaron vom HERRN empfangen hatten.
Then all the sons of Israel did so; they did just as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron.
