Gott sagt: »Geht doch einmal durch die Straßen von Jerusalem und schaut euch um! Sucht alle Plätze ab! Wenn ihr auch nur einen Einzigen findet, der sich an das Recht hält und zu seinem Wort steht, dann will ich ganz Jerusalem vergeben.

Ich dachte: »So sind nur die Ungebildeten, die den Willen des HERRN und die Gebote ihres Gottes nicht kennen.

Doch auch dann werde ich euch nicht völlig auslöschen. Darauf gebe ich, der HERR, mein Wort.
Und wenn sie dich, Jeremia, fragen: ›Warum hat uns der HERR, unser Gott, dies angetan?‹, dann sollst du antworten: ›Ihr habt ihn verlassen und in eurem eigenen Land fremden Göttern gedient, nun müsst ihr in einem anderen Land fremden Herren dienen!‹

Aber nun sind Regen und Ernte ausgeblieben; eure eigene Schuld hat euch um all diese guten Gaben gebracht!

Ja, in meinem Volk gibt es gewissenlose Menschen, die wie Vogelfänger auf der Lauer liegen. Sie warten darauf, dass ihnen Menschen in die Falle laufen.
