»Schmiede dir zwei Trompeten aus Silber! Mit ihnen sollst du das Volk zusammenrufen oder zum Aufbruch blasen.
Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.
Wenn beide Trompeten gleichzeitig geblasen werden, soll sich die ganze Gemeinschaft der Israeliten bei dir am Eingang des heiligen Zeltes versammeln.
And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Wird eine allein geblasen, sollen nur die Stammesoberhäupter Israels zu dir kommen.
And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
Erklingt aber von beiden Trompeten das Signal zum Aufbruch, sollen zuerst die Stämme losziehen, die im Osten lagern.
When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward.
Beim zweiten Mal brechen dann die Stämme im Süden auf.
When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.
Wenn ihr aber das Volk zusammenrufen wollt, sollt ihr dafür einen anderen Signalton verwenden.
But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.
Für das Blasen der Trompeten sind die Nachkommen Aarons, die Priester, zuständig. So soll es für immer bleiben.
And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
Dasselbe Signal wie beim Aufbruch sollt ihr auch dann geben, wenn ihr gegen Feinde in den Kampf zieht, die euer Land angreifen. Ich, der HERR, euer Gott, werde es hören und euch vor ihnen retten.
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
Blast die Trompeten außerdem bei euren Festen und Gottesdiensten, am Anfang jedes Monats und immer, wenn ihr eure Brandopfer und Friedensopfer darbringt. Ich werde dann an euch denken und mich euch zuwenden, denn ich bin der HERR, euer Gott!«
Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

Da brachen die Stämme Israels der Reihe nach auf, verließen die Wüste Sinai und folgten der Wolke in die Wüste Paran. Dort machten sie Halt.
And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.
Zum ersten Mal zogen sie in der Ordnung los, die der HERR durch Mose befohlen hatte.
And they first took their journey according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
An der Spitze gingen die Verbände des Stammes Juda unter der Leitung von Nachschon, dem Sohn von Amminadab.
In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
Zu dieser Abteilung gehörten auch der Stamm Issachar unter seinem Fürsten Netanel, dem Sohn von Zuar,
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
und der Stamm Sebulon, geführt von Eliab, dem Sohn von Helon.
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
Dann folgten die levitischen Sippen Gerschon und Merari mit dem heiligen Zelt, das sie vorher abgebaut hatten.
And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.
Hinter den Leviten kamen die Verbände des Stammes Ruben, die von Elizur, dem Sohn von Schedëur, geführt wurden.
And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Ihm unterstanden auch der Stamm Simeon mit seinem Oberhaupt Schelumiël, dem Sohn von Zurischaddai,
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
und der Stamm Gad unter der Leitung von Eljasaf, dem Sohn von Deguël.
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
Dann brach die levitische Sippe Kehat auf. Sie trug die Gegenstände aus dem Inneren des heiligen Zeltes. Die Leviten aus den Sippen Gerschon und Merari waren bereits vorangezogen, um das Heiligtum aufzubauen, bevor die anderen eintrafen.
And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other did set up the tabernacle against they came.
Als Nächstes folgten die Verbände des Stammes Ephraim unter der Führung von Elischama, dem Sohn von Ammihud.
And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.
Dazu gehörten auch der Stamm Manasse mit seinem Fürsten Gamliël, dem Sohn von Pedazur,
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
und der Stamm Benjamin, dem Abidan, der Sohn von Gidoni, vorstand.
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
Den Schluss bildeten die Verbände des Stammes Dan. Sie wurden von Ahiëser, dem Sohn von Ammischaddai, angeführt
And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward, which was the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
und umfassten neben Dan den Stamm Asser mit seinem Oberhaupt Pagiël, dem Sohn von Ochran,
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.
und den Stamm Naftali unter der Leitung von Ahira, dem Sohn von Enan.
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
In dieser Reihenfolge zogen die Verbände der Israeliten los.
Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward.
Mose sagte zu seinem Schwager Hobab, dem Sohn seines Schwiegervaters Reguël aus Midian: »Wir machen uns jetzt auf den Weg in das Land, das der HERR uns versprochen hat. Komm doch mit! Du wirst es gut bei uns haben, denn der HERR hat gesagt, dass es uns gut gehen wird.«
And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
Aber Hobab lehnte ab: »Nein, ich möchte nicht mit euch gehen, sondern wieder zurück in meine Heimat, zu meinen Verwandten.«
And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.
Da bat ihn Mose: »Lass uns bitte nicht im Stich! Du weißt, wo man in der Wüste lagern kann. Wir brauchen dich, um uns zurechtzufinden!
And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
Wenn du mit uns kommst, werden wir dich reich beschenken. Du sollst an dem Guten teilhaben, das der HERR uns geben wird.«
And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.
Die Israeliten brachen vom Berg Sinai auf und zogen drei Tagereisen lang durch die Wüste. An der Spitze des Zuges wurde die Bundeslade getragen, um das Volk bis zum nächsten Lagerplatz zu führen.
And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.
Während der ganzen Zeit war die Wolke des HERRN über ihnen.
And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day, when they went out of the camp.
Immer wenn die Leviten mit der Bundeslade aufbrachen, rief Mose: »Erhebe dich, HERR, und zerstreue deine Feinde! Schlag alle, die dich hassen, in die Flucht!«
And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.
