Es begab sich, da David in seinem Hause wohnte, sprach er zu dem Propheten Nathan: Siehe, ich wohne in einem Zedernhaus, und die Lade des Bundes des HERRN ist unter Teppichen.
The Lord’s Covenant with David
Now when David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.”
Now when David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent.”
Nathan sprach zu David: Alles was in deinem Herzen ist, das tue; denn Gott ist mit dir.
And Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”
Aber in derselben Nacht kam das Wort Gottes zu Nathan und sprach:
But that same night the word of the Lord came to Nathan,
Gehe hin und sage David, meinem Knecht: So spricht der HERR: Du sollst mir nicht ein Haus bauen zur Wohnung.
“Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: It is not you who will build me a house to dwell in.
Denn ich habe in keinem Hause gewohnt von dem Tage an, da ich die Kinder Israel ausführte, bis auf diesen Tag; sondern bin gewesen, wo die Hütte gewesen ist und die Wohnung.
For I have not lived in a house since the day I brought up Israel to this day, but I have gone from tent to tent and from dwelling to dwelling.
Wo ich wandelte im ganzen Israel, habe ich auch zu der Richter einem in Israel je gesagt, denen ich gebot zu weiden mein Volk, und gesprochen: Warum baut ihr mir nicht ein Zedernhaus?
In all places where I have moved with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people, saying, “Why have you not built me a house of cedar?”’
So sprich nun also zu meinem Knecht David: So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Ich habe dich genommen von der Weide hinter den Schafen, daß du solltest sein ein Fürst über mein Volk Israel,
Now, therefore, thus shall you say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel,
und bin mit dir gewesen, wo du hin gegangen bist, und habe deine Feinde ausgerottet vor dir und habe dir einen Namen gemacht, wie die Großen auf Erden Namen haben.
and I have been with you wherever you have gone and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a name, like the name of the great ones of the earth.
Und ich will meinem Volk Israel eine Stätte setzen und will es pflanzen, daß es daselbst wohnen soll und nicht mehr bewegt werde; und die bösen Leute sollen es nicht mehr schwächen wie vormals und zu den Zeiten, da ich den Richtern gebot über mein Volk Israel.
And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place and be disturbed no more. And violent men shall waste them no more, as formerly,
Und ich will alle deine Feinde demütigen und verkündige dir, daß der HERR dir ein Haus bauen will.
from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the Lord will build you a house.
Wenn aber deine Tage aus sind, daß du hingehst zu deinen Vätern, so will ich dir Samen erwecken, der deiner Söhne einer sein soll; dem will ich sein Königreich bestätigen.
When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
Der soll mir ein Haus bauen, und ich will seinen Stuhl bestätigen ewiglich.
He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.
Ich will sein Vater sein, und er soll mein Sohn sein. Und ich will meine Barmherzigkeit nicht von ihm wenden, wie ich sie von dem gewandt habe, der vor dir war;
I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from him who was before you,
sondern ich will ihn setzen in mein Haus und in mein Königreich ewiglich, daß sein Stuhl beständig sei ewiglich.
but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.’”
Und da Nathan nach allen diesen Worten und all diesem Gesicht mit David redete,
In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, Nathan spoke to David.
kam der König David und blieb vor dem HERRN und sprach: Wer bin ich, HERR, GOTT, und was ist mein Haus, daß du mich bis hierher gebracht hast?
David’s Prayer
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?
Und das hat dich noch zu wenig gedeucht, Gott, sondern du hast über das Haus deines Knechtes noch von fernem Zukünftigen geredet; und du hast mich angesehen nach Menschenweise, der du in der Höhe Gott der HERR bist.
Was soll David mehr sagen zu dir, daß du deinen Knecht herrlich machst? Du erkennst deinen Knecht.
And what more can David say to you for honoring your servant? For you know your servant.
HERR, um deines Knechtes willen, nach deinem Herzen hast du alle solche großen Dinge getan, daß du kundtätest alle Herrlichkeit.
For your servant’s sake, O Lord, and according to your own heart, you have done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.
HERR, es ist deinesgleichen nicht und ist kein Gott denn du, nach allem, was wir mit unsern Ohren gehört haben.
There is none like you, O Lord, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
Und wo ist ein Volk auf Erden wie dein Volk Israel, um welches willen Gott hingegangen ist, sich ein Volk zu erlösen und sich selbst einen Namen zu machen von großen und schrecklichen Dingen, Heiden auszustoßen vor deinem Volk her, das du aus Ägypten erlöst hast.
Und du hast dir dein Volk Israel zum Volk gemacht ewiglich; und du, HERR, bist ihr Gott geworden.
And you made your people Israel to be your people forever, and you, O Lord, became their God.
Nun, HERR, das Wort, das du geredet hast über deinen Knecht und über sein Haus, werde wahr ewiglich, und tue, wie du geredet hast.
And now, O Lord, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house be established forever, and do as you have spoken,
Und dein Name werde wahr und groß ewiglich, daß man sage: Der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels, ist Gott in Israel, und das Haus deines Knechtes David ist beständig vor dir.
and your name will be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God,’ and the house of your servant David will be established before you.
Denn du, mein Gott, hast das Ohr deines Knechtes geöffnet, daß du ihm ein Haus bauen willst; darum hat dein Knecht Mut gefunden, daß er vor dir betet.
For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you.
Nun, HERR, du bist Gott und hast solch Gutes deinem Knecht geredet.
And now, O Lord, you are God, and you have promised this good thing to your servant.
Nun hebe an, zu segnen das Haus deines Knechtes, daß es ewiglich sei vor dir; denn was du, HERR, segnest, das ist gesegnet ewiglich.
Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you, for it is you, O Lord, who have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”
