“You are the sons of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.
“You are the sons of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.
Denn du bist ein heiliges Volk dem HERRN, deinem Gott; und der HERR hat dich erwählt, daß du sein Eigentum seist, aus allen Völkern, die auf Erden sind.
“For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
Das sind aber die Tiere, die ihr essen sollt: Ochs, Schaf, Ziege,
“These are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,
Hirsch, Reh, Büffel, Steinbock, Gemse, Auerochs und Elen;
the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.
und alles Tier, das seine Klauen spaltet und wiederkäut, sollt ihr essen.
“Any animal that divides the hoof and has the hoof split in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.
Das sollt ihr aber nicht essen von dem, das wiederkäut, und von dem, das die Klauen spaltet: das Kamel, der Hase und Kaninchen, die wiederkäuen und doch ihre Klauen nicht spalten, sollen euch unrein sein;
“Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.
das Schwein, ob es wohl die Klauen spaltet, so wiederkäut es doch nicht: es soll euch unrein sein. Ihr Fleisch sollt ihr nicht essen, und ihr Aas sollt ihr nicht anrühren.
“The pig, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses.
Das ist, was ihr essen sollt von allem, das in Wassern ist: alles, was Floßfedern und Schuppen hat, sollt ihr essen.
“These you may eat of all that are in water: anything that has fins and scales you may eat,
Was aber keine Floßfedern noch Schuppen hat, sollt ihr nicht essen; denn es ist euch unrein.
but anything that does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.
Das sind sie aber, die ihr nicht essen sollt: der Adler, der Habicht, der Fischaar,
“But these are the ones which you shall not eat: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard,
der Taucher, der Weih, der Geier mit seiner Art
and the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds,
der Strauß, die Nachteule, der Kuckuck, der Sperber mit seiner Art,
and the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk in their kinds,
der Reiher, der Häher mit seiner Art, der Wiedehopf, die Schwalbe.
the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat.
Und alles was Flügel hat und kriecht, soll euch unrein sein, und sollt es nicht essen.
“And all the teeming life with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.
Ihr sollt kein Aas essen, dem Fremdling in deinem Tor magst du es geben, daß er’s esse oder daß er’s verkaufe einem Ausländer; denn du bist ein heiliges Volk dem HERRN, deinem Gott. Du sollst das Böcklein nicht kochen in der Milch seiner Mutter.
“You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the alien who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to the LORD your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Du sollst alle Jahre den Zehnten absondern alles Ertrages deiner Saat, der aus deinem Acker kommt,
“You shall surely tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes out of the field every year.
und sollst davon essen vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, an dem Ort, den er erwählt, daß sein Name daselbst wohne, nämlich vom Zehnten deines Getreides, deines Mosts, deines Öls und von der Erstgeburt deiner Rinder und deiner Schafe, auf daß du lernest fürchten den HERRN, deinen Gott, dein Leben lang.
“You shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
Wenn aber des Weges dir zu viel ist, daß du solches nicht hintragen kannst, darum daß der Ort dir zu ferne ist, den der HERR, dein Gott, erwählt hat, daß er seinen Namen daselbst wohnen lasse (denn der HERR, dein Gott, hat dich gesegnet:
“If the distance is so great for you that you are not able to bring the tithe, since the place where the LORD your God chooses to set His name is too far away from you when the LORD your God blesses you,
so gib’s hin um Geld und fasse das Geld in deine Hand und gehe an den Ort, den der HERR, dein Gott, erwählt hat,
then you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses.
und gib das Geld um alles, was deine Seele gelüstet, es sei um Rinder, Schafe, Wein, starken Trank oder um alles, das deine Seele wünscht, und iß daselbst vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, und sei fröhlich, du und dein Haus
“You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household.
und der Levit, der in deinem Tor ist (den sollst du nicht verlassen, denn er hat kein Teil noch Erbe mit dir).
“Also you shall not neglect the Levite who is in your town, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.
Alle drei Jahre sollst du aussondern den Zehnten deines Ertrages desselben Jahrs und sollst’s lassen in deinem Tor.
“At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall deposit it in your town.
So soll kommen der Levit (der kein Teil noch Erbe mit dir hat) und der Fremdling und der Waise und die Witwe, die in deinem Tor sind, und essen und sich sättigen, auf daß dich der HERR, dein Gott, segne in allen Werken deiner Hand, die du tust.
“The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the alien, the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
