Er sagte zu ihnen: »Die Ernte ist groß, aber es gibt nur wenige Arbeiter. Darum bittet den Herrn, dass er noch mehr Arbeiter aussendet, die seine Ernte einbringen.
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Geht nun und denkt daran: Ich schicke euch wie Lämmer mitten unter die Wölfe.
Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Nehmt kein Geld, keine Tasche und keine Schuhe mit. Falls ihr unterwegs Leute trefft, lasst euch nicht auf lange Begrüßungen und Gespräche ein!
Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
Wenn ihr in ein Haus kommt, dann sagt: ›Friede sei mit euch allen!‹
And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
Wenn dort jemand Gottes Frieden bereitwillig annimmt, so soll der Friede, den ihr bringt, bei ihm bleiben. Wenn aber nicht, dann wird Gottes Friede ihn wieder verlassen und zu euch zurückkehren.
And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
Deshalb bleibt dort, wo man euch aufnimmt, esst und trinkt, was man euch anbietet. Denn wer arbeitet, soll auch versorgt werden. Bleibt in dem einen Haus und wechselt eure Unterkunft nicht.

Wenn ihr in eine Stadt kommt, in der euch die Leute bereitwillig aufnehmen, dann esst, was man euch anbietet.

Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
Ich sage euch: Sodom wird es am Tag des Gerichts besser ergehen als einer solchen Stadt.

Als die zweiundsiebzig Jünger zurückgekehrt waren, berichteten sie voller Freude: »Herr, sogar die Dämonen mussten uns gehorchen, wenn wir uns auf deinen Namen beriefen!«

Ich habe euch die Vollmacht gegeben, auf Schlangen und Skorpione zu treten und die Gewalt des Feindes zu brechen. Nichts wird euch schaden.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Doch freut euch nicht so sehr, dass euch die bösen Geister gehorchen müssen; freut euch vielmehr darüber, dass eure Namen im Himmel aufgeschrieben sind!«
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Da brach Jesus, erfüllt vom Heiligen Geist, in Jubel aus und betete: »Mein Vater, Herr über Himmel und Erde! Ich preise dich, dass du die Wahrheit über dein Reich vor den Klugen und Gebildeten verborgen und sie den Unwissenden enthüllt hast. Ja, Vater, das war dein Wille, so hat es dir gefallen.
Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving

Zu seinen Jüngern sagte Jesus dann: »Ihr könnt euch wirklich glücklich schätzen, dass ihr dies alles seht und erlebt.

Denn ich sage euch: Viele Propheten und Könige hätten gern gesehen, was ihr seht, und gehört, was ihr hört. Aber die Zeit war noch nicht da.«
For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
Da stand ein Gesetzeslehrer auf, um Jesus eine Falle zu stellen. »Lehrer«, fragte er, »was muss ich tun, um das ewige Leben zu bekommen?«
The Parable of the Good Samaritan

Der Gesetzeslehrer antwortete: »Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben von ganzem Herzen, mit ganzer Hingabe, mit all deiner Kraft und mit deinem ganzen Verstand. Und auch deinen Mitmenschen sollst du so lieben wie dich selbst.«
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
»Richtig!«, erwiderte Jesus. »Tu das, und du wirst leben.«
And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
Aber der Mann wollte sich verteidigen und fragte weiter: »Wer gehört denn eigentlich zu meinen Mitmenschen?«

Jesus antwortete ihm mit einer Geschichte: »Ein Mann ging von Jerusalem nach Jericho. Unterwegs wurde er von Räubern überfallen. Sie schlugen ihn zusammen, raubten ihn aus und ließen ihn halb tot liegen. Dann machten sie sich davon.
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
Zufällig kam bald darauf ein Priester vorbei. Er sah den Mann liegen und ging schnell auf der anderen Straßenseite weiter.
And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
Genauso verhielt sich ein Tempeldiener. Er sah zwar den verletzten Mann, aber er blieb nicht stehen, sondern machte einen großen Bogen um ihn.
And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
Dann kam einer der verachteten Samariter vorbei. Als er den Verletzten sah, hatte er Mitleid mit ihm.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
Er ging zu ihm hin, behandelte seine Wunden mit Öl und Wein und verband sie. Dann hob er ihn auf sein Reittier und brachte ihn in den nächsten Gasthof, wo er den Kranken besser pflegen und versorgen konnte.
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
Am folgenden Tag, als er weiterreisen musste, gab er dem Wirt zwei Silberstücke aus seinem Beutel und bat ihn: ›Pflege den Mann gesund! Sollte das Geld nicht reichen, werde ich dir den Rest auf meiner Rückreise bezahlen!‹
And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
Was meinst du?«, fragte Jesus jetzt den Gesetzeslehrer. »Welcher von den dreien hat an dem Überfallenen als Mitmensch gehandelt?«
Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
Der Gesetzeslehrer erwiderte: »Natürlich der Mann, der ihm geholfen hat.« »Dann geh und folge seinem Beispiel!«, forderte Jesus ihn auf.
And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
Als Jesus mit seinen Jüngern weiterzog, kam er in ein Dorf, wo er bei einer Frau aufgenommen wurde, die Marta hieß.
Martha and Mary
Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

Marta aber war unentwegt mit der Bewirtung ihrer Gäste beschäftigt. Schließlich kam sie zu Jesus und fragte: »Herr, siehst du nicht, dass meine Schwester mir die ganze Arbeit überlässt? Sag ihr doch, dass sie mir helfen soll!«
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Doch der Herr antwortete ihr: »Marta, Marta, du bist um so vieles besorgt und machst dir so viel Mühe.
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
