Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
der du die Menschen lässest sterben und sprichst: Kommt wieder, Menschenkinder!
Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
Denn 1000 Jahre sind vor dir wie der Tag, der gestern vergangen ist, und wie eine Nachtwache.
For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
Du lässest sie dahinfahren wie einen Strom; sie sind wie ein Schlaf, gleichwie ein Gras, das doch bald welk wird,
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
Das macht dein Zorn, daß wir so vergehen, und dein Grimm, daß wir so plötzlich dahinmüssen.
For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
Denn unsre Missetaten stellst du vor dich, unsre unerkannte Sünde ins Licht vor deinem Angesicht.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.
Darum fahren alle unsre Tage dahin durch deinen Zorn; wir bringen unsre Jahre zu wie ein Geschwätz.
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
Unser Leben währet 70 Jahre, und wenn’s hoch kommt, so sind’s 80 Jahre, und wenn’s köstlich gewesen ist, so ist es Mühe und Arbeit gewesen; denn es fähret schnell dahin, als flögen wir davon.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Wer glaubt aber, daß du so sehr zürnest, und wer fürchtet sich vor solchem deinem Grimm?
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
Lehre uns bedenken, daß wir sterben müssen, auf daß wir klug werden.
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
HERR, kehre dich doch wieder zu uns und sei deinen Knechten gnädig!
Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
Fülle uns frühe mit deiner Gnade, so wollen wir rühmen und fröhlich sein unser Leben lang.
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Erfreue uns nun wieder, nachdem du uns so lange plagest, nachdem wir so lange Unglück leiden.
Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.
Zeige deinen Knechten deine Werke und deine Ehre ihren Kindern.
Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
