Als sie sich Jerusalem näherten und nach Betfage am Ölberg kamen, schickte Jesus zwei Jünger aus
und sagte zu ihnen: Geht in das Dorf, das vor euch liegt; dort werdet ihr eine Eselin angebunden finden und ein Fohlen bei ihr. Bindet sie los und bringt sie zu mir!
saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me.
Und wenn euch jemand zur Rede stellt, dann sagt: Der Herr braucht sie, er lässt sie aber bald zurückbringen.
And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
Das ist geschehen, damit sich erfüllte, was durch den Propheten gesagt worden ist:
Sagt der Tochter Zion: Siehe, dein König kommt zu dir. Er ist sanftmütig und er reitet auf einer Eselin und auf einem Fohlen, dem Jungen eines Lasttiers.

Die Jünger gingen und taten, wie Jesus ihnen aufgetragen hatte.
So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.

Als er in Jerusalem einzog, erbebte die ganze Stadt und man fragte: Wer ist dieser?
And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”

And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”
Im Tempel kamen Lahme und Blinde zu ihm und er heilte sie.

Als nun die Hohepriester und die Schriftgelehrten die Wunder sahen, die er tat, und die Kinder im Tempel rufen hörten: Hosanna dem Sohn Davids!, da wurden sie ärgerlich
und sagten zu ihm: Hörst du, was sie rufen? Jesus antwortete ihnen: Ja. Habt ihr nie gelesen: Aus dem Mund der Kinder und Säuglinge schaffst du dir Lob?

Und er ließ sie stehen und ging aus der Stadt hinaus nach Betanien; dort übernachtete er.

The Fig Tree Withered

And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away.
Als die Jünger das sahen, fragten sie erstaunt: Wie konnte der Feigenbaum so plötzlich verdorren?

Jesus antwortete ihnen: Amen, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr Glauben habt und nicht zweifelt, dann werdet ihr nicht nur das vollbringen, was ich mit dem Feigenbaum getan habe; selbst wenn ihr zu diesem Berg sagt: Heb dich empor und stürz dich ins Meer!, wird es geschehen.
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.
Und alles, was ihr im Gebet erbittet, werdet ihr erhalten, wenn ihr glaubt.
And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Als er in den Tempel ging und dort lehrte, kamen die Hohepriester und die Ältesten des Volkes zu ihm und fragten: In welcher Vollmacht tust du das und wer hat dir diese Vollmacht gegeben?
Jesus’ Authority Questioned

Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Auch ich will euch eine Frage stellen. Wenn ihr mir darauf antwortet, dann werde ich euch sagen, in welcher Vollmacht ich das tue.

Woher stammte die Taufe des Johannes? Vom Himmel oder von den Menschen? Da überlegten sie und sagten zueinander: Wenn wir antworten: Vom Himmel!, so wird er zu uns sagen: Warum habt ihr ihm dann nicht geglaubt?

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’

Wenn wir aber antworten: Von den Menschen!, dann müssen wir uns vor den Leuten fürchten; denn alle halten Johannes für einen Propheten.

Darum antworteten sie Jesus: Wir wissen es nicht. Da erwiderte er: Dann sage auch ich euch nicht, in welcher Vollmacht ich das tue.
So they answered Jesus and said, “We do not know.”

Was meint ihr? Ein Mann hatte zwei Söhne. Er ging zum ersten und sagte: Mein Kind, geh und arbeite heute im Weinberg!
The Parable of the Two Sons
“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’

Er antwortete: Ich will nicht. Später aber reute es ihn und er ging hinaus.
He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it and went.
Da wandte er sich an den zweiten und sagte zu ihm dasselbe. Dieser antwortete: Ja, Herr — und ging nicht hin.
Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go.
Wer von den beiden hat den Willen seines Vaters erfüllt? Sie antworteten: Der erste. Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Amen, ich sage euch: Die Zöllner und die Dirnen gelangen eher in das Reich Gottes als ihr.

Denn Johannes ist zu euch gekommen auf dem Weg der Gerechtigkeit und ihr habt ihm nicht geglaubt; aber die Zöllner und die Dirnen haben ihm geglaubt. Ihr habt es gesehen und doch habt ihr nicht bereut und ihm nicht geglaubt.
Hört noch ein anderes Gleichnis: Es war ein Gutsbesitzer, der legte einen Weinberg an, zog ringsherum einen Zaun, hob eine Kelter aus und baute einen Turm. Dann verpachtete er den Weinberg an Winzer und reiste in ein anderes Land.
The Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers
“Hear another parable: There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower. And he leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country.

Als nun die Erntezeit kam, schickte er seine Knechte zu den Winzern, um seine Früchte holen zu lassen.
Now when vintage-time drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers, that they might receive its fruit.
Die Winzer aber packten seine Knechte; den einen prügelten sie, den andern brachten sie um, wieder einen anderen steinigten sie.
And the vinedressers took his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another.
Darauf schickte er andere Knechte, mehr als das erste Mal; mit ihnen machten sie es genauso.
Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did likewise to them.
Zuletzt sandte er seinen Sohn zu ihnen; denn er dachte: Vor meinem Sohn werden sie Achtung haben.
Then last of all he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’
Als die Winzer den Sohn sahen, sagten sie zueinander: Das ist der Erbe. Auf, wir wollen ihn umbringen, damit wir sein Erbe in Besitz nehmen.
But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’
Und sie packten ihn, warfen ihn aus dem Weinberg hinaus und brachten ihn um.
So they took him and cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.
Wenn nun der Herr des Weinbergs kommt: Was wird er mit jenen Winzern tun?
“Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers?”
Sie sagten zu ihm: Er wird diese bösen Menschen vernichten und den Weinberg an andere Winzer verpachten, die ihm die Früchte abliefern, wenn es Zeit dafür ist.
Und Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Habt ihr nie in der Schrift gelesen: Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, er ist zum Eckstein geworden; vom Herrn ist das geschehen und es ist wunderbar in unseren Augen?

Darum sage ich euch: Das Reich Gottes wird euch weggenommen und einem Volk gegeben werden, das die Früchte des Reiches Gottes bringt.
“Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.
Und wer auf diesen Stein fällt, wird zerschellen; auf wen der Stein aber fällt, den wird er zermalmen.
And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”
Als die Hohepriester und die Pharisäer seine Gleichnisse hörten, merkten sie, dass er von ihnen sprach.
