Elihu Says God Is Back of the Storm
“At this also my heart trembles,
And leaps from its place.

O höret doch, wie sein Donner zürnt, und was für Gespräch von seinem Munde ausgeht!
“Listen closely to the thunder of His voice,
And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth.

Er läßt ihn hinfahren unter allen Himmeln, und sein Blitz scheint auf die Enden der Erde.
“Under the whole heaven He lets it loose,
And His lightning to the ends of the earth.
And His lightning to the ends of the earth.
Ihm nach brüllt der Donner, und er donnert mit seinem großen Schall; und wenn sein Donner gehört wird, kann man’s nicht aufhalten.
“After it, a voice roars;
He thunders with His majestic voice,
And He does not restrain the lightnings when His voice is heard.

Gott donnert mit seinem Donner wunderbar und tut große Dinge und wird doch nicht erkannt.
“God thunders with His voice wondrously,
Doing great things which we cannot comprehend.

Er spricht zum Schnee, so ist er bald auf Erden, und zum Platzregen, so ist der Platzregen da mit Macht.
“For to the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’
And to the downpour and the rain, ‘Be strong.’

Aller Menschen Hand hält er verschlossen, daß die Leute lernen, was er tun kann.
“He seals the hand of every man,
That all men may know His work.

Das wilde Tier geht in die Höhle und bleibt an seinem Ort.
“Then the beast goes into its lair
And remains in its den.

Von Mittag her kommt Wetter und von Mitternacht Kälte.
“Out of the south comes the storm,
And out of the north the cold.

Vom Odem Gottes kommt Frost, und große Wasser ziehen sich eng zusammen.
“From the breath of God ice is made,
And the expanse of the waters is frozen.

Die Wolken beschwert er mit Wasser, und durch das Gewölk bricht sein Licht.
“Also with moisture He loads the thick cloud;
He disperses the cloud of His lightning.

Er kehrt die Wolken, wo er hin will, daß sie schaffen alles, was er ihnen gebeut, auf dem Erdboden:
“It changes direction, turning around by His guidance,
That it may do whatever He commands it
On the face of the inhabited earth.

es sei zur Züchtigung über ein Land oder zur Gnade, läßt er sie kommen.
“Whether for correction, or for His world,
Or for lovingkindness, He causes it to happen.

Da merke auf, Hiob, stehe und vernimm die Wunder Gottes!
“Listen to this, O Job,
Stand and consider the wonders of God.

Weißt du wie Gott solches über sie bringt und wie er das Licht aus seinen Wolken läßt hervorbrechen?
“Do you know how God establishes them,
And makes the lightning of His cloud to shine?

Weißt du wie sich die Wolken ausstreuen, die Wunder des, der vollkommen ist an Wissen?
“Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds,
The wonders of one perfect in knowledge,

Du, des Kleider warm sind, wenn das Land still ist vom Mittagswinde,
You whose garments are hot,
When the land is still because of the south wind?

ja, du wirst mit ihm den Himmel ausbreiten, der fest ist wie ein gegossener Spiegel.
“Can you, with Him, spread out the skies,
Strong as a molten mirror?

Zeige uns, was wir ihm sagen sollen; denn wir können nichts vorbringen vor Finsternis.
“Teach us what we shall say to Him;

Wer wird ihm erzählen, daß ich wolle reden? So jemand redet, der wird verschlungen.
“Shall it be told Him that I would speak?

Jetzt sieht man das Licht nicht, das am Himmel hell leuchtet; wenn aber der Wind weht, so wird’s klar.

Von Mitternacht kommt Gold; um Gott her ist schrecklicher Glanz.
“Out of the north comes golden splendor;

Den Allmächtigen aber können wir nicht finden, der so groß ist von Kraft; das Recht und eine gute Sache beugt er nicht.
