Deliverance from Bondage
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Denn das Gesetz des Geistes und des Lebens in Christus Jesus hat dich frei gemacht vom Gesetz der Sünde und des Todes.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Denn weil das Gesetz, ohnmächtig durch das Fleisch, nichts vermochte, sandte Gott seinen Sohn in der Gestalt des Fleisches, das unter der Macht der Sünde steht, wegen der Sünde, um die Sünde im Fleisch zu verurteilen;
For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
dies tat er, damit die Forderung des Gesetzes durch uns erfüllt werde, die wir nicht nach dem Fleisch, sondern nach dem Geist leben.
so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Denn diejenigen, die vom Fleisch bestimmt sind, trachten nach dem, was dem Fleisch entspricht, die aber vom Geist bestimmt sind, nach dem, was dem Geist entspricht.
For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Denn das Trachten des Fleisches führt zum Tod, das Trachten des Geistes aber zu Leben und Frieden.
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
Denn das Trachten des Fleisches ist Feindschaft gegen Gott; es unterwirft sich nämlich nicht dem Gesetz Gottes und kann es auch nicht.
because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,
Wer aber vom Fleisch bestimmt ist, kann Gott nicht gefallen.
and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Ihr aber seid nicht vom Fleisch, sondern vom Geist bestimmt, da ja der Geist Gottes in euch wohnt. Wer aber den Geist Christi nicht hat, der gehört nicht zu ihm.
However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
Wenn aber Christus in euch ist, dann ist zwar der Leib tot aufgrund der Sünde, der Geist aber ist Leben aufgrund der Gerechtigkeit.
If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
Wenn aber der Geist dessen in euch wohnt, der Jesus von den Toten auferweckt hat, dann wird er, der Christus von den Toten auferweckt hat, auch eure sterblichen Leiber lebendig machen, durch seinen Geist, der in euch wohnt.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Wir sind also nicht dem Fleisch verpflichtet, Brüder und Schwestern, sodass wir nach dem Fleisch leben müssten.
So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh —
Denn wenn ihr nach dem Fleisch lebt, müsst ihr sterben; wenn ihr aber durch den Geist die sündigen Taten des Leibes tötet, werdet ihr leben.
for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Denn die sich vom Geist Gottes leiten lassen, sind Kinder Gottes.
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Denn ihr habt nicht einen Geist der Knechtschaft empfangen, sodass ihr immer noch Furcht haben müsstet, sondern ihr habt den Geist der Sohnschaft empfangen, in dem wir rufen: Abba, Vater!
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”
Der Geist selber bezeugt unserem Geist, dass wir Kinder Gottes sind.
The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
Sind wir aber Kinder, dann auch Erben; Erben Gottes und Miterben Christi, wenn wir mit ihm leiden, um mit ihm auch verherrlicht zu werden.
and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Ich bin nämlich überzeugt, dass die Leiden der gegenwärtigen Zeit nichts bedeuten im Vergleich zu der Herrlichkeit, die an uns offenbar werden soll.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Denn die Schöpfung wartet sehnsüchtig auf das Offenbarwerden der Söhne Gottes.
For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.
Gewiss, die Schöpfung ist der Nichtigkeit unterworfen, nicht aus eigenem Willen, sondern durch den, der sie unterworfen hat, auf Hoffnung hin:
For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope
Denn auch sie, die Schöpfung, soll von der Knechtschaft der Vergänglichkeit befreit werden zur Freiheit und Herrlichkeit der Kinder Gottes.
that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
Denn wir wissen, dass die gesamte Schöpfung bis zum heutigen Tag seufzt und in Geburtswehen liegt.
For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
Aber nicht nur das, sondern auch wir, obwohl wir als Erstlingsgabe den Geist haben, auch wir seufzen in unserem Herzen und warten darauf, dass wir mit der Erlösung unseres Leibes als Söhne offenbar werden.
And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
Denn auf Hoffnung hin sind wir gerettet. Hoffnung aber, die man schon erfüllt sieht, ist keine Hoffnung. Denn wie kann man auf etwas hoffen, das man sieht?
For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
Hoffen wir aber auf das, was wir nicht sehen, dann harren wir aus in Geduld.
But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
So nimmt sich auch der Geist unserer Schwachheit an. Denn wir wissen nicht, was wir in rechter Weise beten sollen; der Geist selber tritt jedoch für uns ein mit unaussprechlichen Seufzern.
Our Victory in Christ
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
Der die Herzen erforscht, weiß, was die Absicht des Geistes ist. Denn er tritt so, wie Gott es will, für die Heiligen ein.
and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Wir wissen aber, dass denen, die Gott lieben, alles zum Guten gereicht, denen, die gemäß seinem Ratschluss berufen sind;
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
denn diejenigen, die er im Voraus erkannt hat, hat er auch im Voraus dazu bestimmt, an Wesen und Gestalt seines Sohnes teilzuhaben, damit dieser der Erstgeborene unter vielen Brüdern sei.
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
Die er aber vorausbestimmt hat, die hat er auch berufen, und die er berufen hat, die hat er auch gerecht gemacht; die er aber gerecht gemacht hat, die hat er auch verherrlicht.
and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
Was sollen wir nun dazu sagen? Ist Gott für uns, wer ist dann gegen uns?
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
Er hat seinen eigenen Sohn nicht verschont, sondern ihn für uns alle hingegeben — wie sollte er uns mit ihm nicht alles schenken?
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
Wer kann die Auserwählten Gottes anklagen? Gott ist es, der gerecht macht.
Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;
Wer kann sie verurteilen? Christus Jesus, der gestorben ist, mehr noch: Der auferweckt worden ist, er sitzt zur Rechten Gottes und tritt für uns ein.
who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
Was kann uns scheiden von der Liebe Christi? Bedrängnis oder Not oder Verfolgung, Hunger oder Kälte, Gefahr oder Schwert?
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Wie geschrieben steht: Um deinetwillen sind wir den ganzen Tag dem Tod ausgesetzt; wir werden behandelt wie Schafe, die man zum Schlachten bestimmt hat.
Just as it is written,
“FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”
“FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”
Doch in alldem tragen wir einen glänzenden Sieg davon durch den, der uns geliebt hat.
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
Denn ich bin gewiss: Weder Tod noch Leben, weder Engel noch Mächte, weder Gegenwärtiges noch Zukünftiges noch Gewalten,
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
