The Man with a Measuring Rod

In göttlichen Visionen brachte er mich ins Land Israel und stellte mich auf einen sehr hohen Berg. In südlicher Richtung war auf dem Berg etwas wie eine Stadt erbaut.
In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.
Dorthin brachte er mich. Und siehe, da war ein Mann, der aussah, als sei er aus Bronze. Er hatte eine leinene Schnur und die Messlatte in der Hand. Und er stand im Tor.
And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.
Der Mann sagte zu mir: Menschensohn, schau mit deinen Augen und mit deinen Ohren höre und richte dein Herz auf alles, was ich dir zeige! Denn du bist hierhergebracht worden, damit ich es dir zeige. Berichte alles, was du siehst, dem Haus Israel!
And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.
Und siehe, da stand eine Mauer, die den Tempel ringsum außen umgab. Der Mann hatte in der Hand die Messlatte von sechs Ellen, die je eine gewöhnliche Elle und eine Handbreit maßen. Und er maß die Dicke der Mauer — eine Latte — und die Höhe — eine Latte.
The East Gate
And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man's hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.

And every little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad; and between the little chambers were five cubits; and the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed.

Dann maß er die Vorhalle des Tors — acht Ellen — sowie dessen Pfeiler — zwei Ellen. Die Vorhalle des Tors lag auf der Tempelseite des Tors.
Then measured he the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits; and the porch of the gate was inward.
Drei Torkammern des Osttors lagen auf der einen Seite, drei auf der andern; alle drei hatten jeweils die gleichen Maße und auch die Pfeiler hüben und drüben hatten die gleichen Maße.
And the little chambers of the gate eastward were three on this side, and three on that side; they three were of one measure: and the posts had one measure on this side and on that side.
Dann maß er die Breite der Toröffnung — zehn Ellen — und die Länge des Torgebäudes — dreizehn Ellen.
And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.
Und vor den Torkammern war eine Schranke, jeweils eine Elle hoch. Die Torkammern auf beiden Seiten maßen jeweils sechs Ellen.
The space also before the little chambers was one cubit on this side, and the space was one cubit on that side: and the little chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.
Dann maß er die Breite des Torbaus vom Dachansatz einer Torkammer bis zum Dachansatz der gegenüberliegenden Torkammer von Tür zu Tür — fünfundzwanzig Ellen.
He measured then the gate from the roof of one little chamber to the roof of another: the breadth was five and twenty cubits, door against door.
Dann legte er für die Pfeiler fest — sechzig Ellen. An den Pylon stieß der Vorhof, rings um das Tor.
He made also posts of threescore cubits, even unto the post of the court round about the gate.
Von der Vorderseite des Toreingangs bis zur Tempelseite der Vorhalle des Tors innen waren es fünfzig Ellen.
And from the face of the gate of the entrance unto the face of the porch of the inner gate were fifty cubits.
Die Torkammern ringsum hatten verschlossene Fenster, ebenso innen die Pfeiler und die Vorhalle. Ringsum befanden sich innen Fenster. Die Pfeiler waren mit Palmen verziert.
And there were narrow windows to the little chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the arches: and windows were round about inward: and upon each post were palm trees.
Dann brachte er mich in den äußeren Vorhof. Und siehe, rings um den Vorhof lagen Räume und davor war ringsum ein Steinpflaster angelegt; dreißig Räume grenzten an das Pflaster.
The Outer Court
Then brought he me into the outward court, and, lo, there were chambers, and a pavement made for the court round about: thirty chambers were upon the pavement.

Das Steinpflaster schloss sich seitlich an die Tore an und es war genauso breit wie der Vorsprung der Tore. Das war das untere Steinpflaster.
And the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the lower pavement.
Dann maß er den Abstand von der Vorderseite des unteren Tores bis vor die äußere Vorderseite des inneren Hofes: hundert Ellen. So im Osten. Und so im Norden:
Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.
Auch das Nordtor des äußeren Vorhofs maß er seiner Länge und seiner Breite nach.
The North Gate
And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.

Es hatte je drei Torkammern auf beiden Seiten. Seine Pfeiler und seine Torkammern hatten die gleichen Maße wie die des ersten Tors. Im Ganzen war es fünfzig Ellen lang und fünfundzwanzig Ellen breit.

Seine Fenster, seine Vorhalle und sein Palmenschmuck hatten die gleichen Maße wie die des Osttors. Man musste sieben Stufen zu ihm hinaufsteigen, vor ihnen lag seine Vorhalle.
And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
Wie beim Osttor lag auch dem Nordtor ein Tor gegenüber, das zum Innenhof führte, und er maß den Abstand von Tor zu Tor — hundert Ellen.
And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.
Dann führte er mich nach Süden und siehe, auch im Süden war ein Tor. Und er maß seine Pfeiler und seine Vorhalle; sie entsprachen den Maßen der anderen.
The South Gate
After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures.

And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.
Auch der innere Vorhof hatte ein Südtor und er maß den Abstand von Tor zu Tor im Süden — hundert Ellen.

Dann brachte er mich zum inneren Vorhof in das Südtor und er maß das Südtor. Es hatte die gleichen Maße wie die anderen Tore:

Eight Tables for Sacrifices

An der Seitenwand, außerhalb, standen beim Aufstieg zum Eingang des Nordtores je zwei Tische und an der gegenüberliegenden Wand der Vorhalle des Tors ebenfalls je zwei Tische;
And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables.
je vier Tische standen an den beiden Seitenwänden des Tors: acht Tische, auf denen man schlachtete.
Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.
Die vier Tische für das Brandopfer waren aus behauenen Steinen. Sie waren anderthalb Ellen lang, anderthalb Ellen breit und eine Elle hoch. Auf sie legte man die Geräte, mit denen man die Brand- und Schlachtopfer schlachtete.
And the four tables were of hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a cubit and an half long, and a cubit and an half broad, and one cubit high: whereupon also they laid the instruments wherewith they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice.
Innen im Gebäude hatte man ringsum handbreite Randleisten angebracht. Und auf die Tische legte man das Opferfleisch.
And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.
Und außerhalb des Innentores lagen Räume für Sänger im inneren Vorhof; die an der Seitenwand des Nordtores öffneten sich nach Süden; einer war an der Seitenwand des Osttores, seine Vorderseite öffnete sich nach Norden.
Rooms for the Priests
And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.

Er sagte zu mir: Dieser Raum, der sich nach Süden öffnet, gehört den Priestern, die beim Tempeldienst wachen.
And he said unto me, This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.
Der Raum aber, der sich nach Norden öffnet, gehört den Priestern, die über den Altardienst wachen; das sind die Nachkommen Zadoks, die als Einzige von den Leviten vor den HERRN hintreten dürfen, um ihm zu dienen.
And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him.
Dann maß er den Hof — ein Quadrat von hundert Ellen Länge und hundert Ellen Breite. Vor dem Tempelgebäude stand der Altar.
The Inner Courtyard

And he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
Die Vorhalle war zwanzig Ellen breit und elf Ellen lang. Zehn Stufen musste man zu ihr hinaufsteigen. An den Pfeilern standen außen Säulen, je eine auf jeder Seite.
The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
