Seventy Years of Desolation
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon),

welches auch der Prophet Jeremia redete zu dem ganzen Volk Juda und zu allen Bürgern zu Jerusalem und sprach:
which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:
Es ist von dem 13. Jahr an Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs Juda’s, des HERRN Wort zu mir geschehen bis auf diesen Tag, und ich habe euch nun 23 Jahre mit Fleiß gepredigt; aber ihr habt nie hören wollen.
“From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, this is the twenty-third year in which the word of the Lord has come to me; and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you have not listened.
So hat der HERR auch zu euch gesandt alle seine Knechte, die Propheten, fleißig; aber ihr habt nie hören wollen noch eure Ohren neigen, daß ihr gehorchtet,
And the Lord has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear.
da er sprach: Bekehret euch, ein jeglicher von seinem bösen Wege und von eurem bösen Wesen, so sollt ihr in dem Lande, das der HERR euch und euren Vätern gegeben hat, immer und ewiglich bleiben.
They said, ‘Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers forever and ever.
Folget nicht andern Göttern, daß ihr ihnen dienet und sie anbetet, auf daß ihr mich nicht erzürnet durch eurer Hände Werk und ich euch Unglück zufügen müsse.
Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’
Aber ihr wolltet mir nicht gehorchen, spricht der HERR, auf daß ihr mich ja wohl erzürntet durch eurer Hände Werk zu eurem eigenen Unglück.
Yet you have not listened to Me,” says the Lord, “that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.
Darum so spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Weil ihr denn meine Worte nicht hören wollt,
“Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Because you have not heard My words,
siehe, so will ich ausschicken und kommen lassen alle Völker gegen Mitternacht, spricht der HERR, auch meinen Knecht Nebukadnezar, den König zu Babel, und will sie bringen über dies Land und über die, so darin wohnen, und über alle diese Völker, so umherliegen, und will sie verbannen und verstören und zum Spott und zur ewigen Wüste machen,
behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ says the Lord, ‘and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations.
und will herausnehmen allen fröhlichen Gesang, die Stimme des Bräutigams und der Braut, die Stimme der Mühle und das Licht der Lampe,
daß dies ganze Land wüst und zerstört liegen soll. Und sollen diese Völker dem König zu Babel dienen 70 Jahre.
And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
Wenn aber die 70 Jahre um sind, will ich den König zu Babel heimsuchen und dies Volk, spricht der HERR, um ihre Missetat, dazu das Land der Chaldäer, und will es zur ewigen Wüste machen.
Also will ich über dies Land bringen alle meine Worte, die ich geredet habe wider sie (nämlich alles, was in diesem Buch geschrieben steht, das Jeremia geweissagt hat über alle Völker.
So I will bring on that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied concerning all the nations.
Und sie sollen auch großen Völkern und großen Königen dienen. Also will ich ihnen vergelten nach ihrem Verdienst und nach den Werken ihrer Hände.
(For many nations and great kings shall be served by them also; and I will repay them according to their deeds and according to the works of their own hands.)’ ”
Denn also spricht zu mir der HERR, der Gott Israels: Nimm diesen Becher Wein voll Zorns von meiner Hand und schenke daraus allen Völkern, zu denen ich dich sende,
daß sie trinken, taumeln und toll werden vor dem Schwert, das ich unter sie schicken will.
And they will drink and stagger and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them.”
Und ich nahm den Becher von der Hand des HERRN und schenkte allen Völkern, zu denen mich der HERR sandte,
Then I took the cup from the Lord’s hand, and made all the nations drink, to whom the Lord had sent me:
nämlich Jerusalem, den Städten Juda’s, ihren Königen und Fürsten, daß sie wüst und zerstört liegen und ein Spott und Fluch sein sollen, wie es denn heutigestages steht;
Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;
auch Pharao, dem König in Ägypten, samt seinen Knechten, seinen Fürsten und seinem ganzen Volk;
Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his princes, and all his people;
allen Ländern gegen Abend, allen Königen im Lande Uz, allen Königen in der Philister Lande, samt Askalon, Gaza, Ekron und den übrigen zu Asdod;
all the mixed multitude, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines (namely, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);
allen Königen zu Tyrus, allen Königen zu Sidon, den Königen auf den Inseln jenseit des Meeres;
all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are across the sea;
denen von Dedan, denen von Thema, denen von Bus und allen, die das Haar rundherum abschneiden;
Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who are in the farthest corners;
allen Königen in Arabien, allen Königen gegen Abend, die in der Wüste wohnen;
all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the mixed multitude who dwell in the desert;
allen Königen in Simri, allen Königen in Elam, allen Königen in Medien;
all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;
allen Königen gegen Mitternacht, in der Nähe und Ferne, einem mit dem andern, und allen Königen auf Erden, die auf dem Erdboden sind; und der König zu Sesach soll nach diesen trinken.
Und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Trinket, daß ihr trunken werdet, speiet und niederfallt und nicht aufstehen könnt vor dem Schwert, das ich unter euch schicken will.
“Therefore you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Drink, be drunk, and vomit! Fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.” ’
Und wo sie den Becher nicht wollen von deiner Hand nehmen und trinken, so sprich zu ihnen: Also spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Nun sollt ihr trinken!
And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “You shall certainly drink!
Denn siehe, in der Stadt, die nach meinem Namen genannt ist, fange ich an zu plagen; und ihr solltet ungestraft bleiben? Ihr sollt nicht ungestraft bleiben; denn ich rufe das Schwert herbei über alle, die auf Erden wohnen, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.
For behold, I begin to bring calamity on the city which is called by My name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished, for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth,” says the Lord of hosts.’
Und du sollst alle diese Worte ihnen weissagen und sprich zu ihnen: Der HERR wird brüllen aus der Höhe und seinen Donner hören lassen aus seiner heiligen Wohnung; er wird brüllen über seine Hürden; er wird singen ein Lied wie die Weintreter über alle Einwohner des Landes, des Hall erschallen wird bis an der Welt Ende.
“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say to them:
‘The Lord will roar from on high,
And utter His voice from His holy habitation;
He will roar mightily against His fold.
He will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes,
Against all the inhabitants of the earth.
‘The Lord will roar from on high,

Der HERR hat zu rechten mit den Heiden und will mit allem Fleisch Gericht halten; die Gottlosen wird er dem Schwert übergeben, spricht der HERR.
A noise will come to the ends of the earth —
For the Lord has a controversy with the nations;
He will plead His case with all flesh.
He will give those who are wicked to the sword,’ says the Lord.”

So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Siehe, es wird eine Plage kommen von einem Volk zum andern, und ein großes Wetter wird erweckt werden aus einem fernen Lande.
Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“Behold, disaster shall go forth
From nation to nation,
And a great whirlwind shall be raised up
From the farthest parts of the earth.
“Behold, disaster shall go forth
From nation to nation,
And a great whirlwind shall be raised up
From the farthest parts of the earth.
Da werden die Erschlagenen des HERRN zu derselben Zeit liegen von einem Ende der Erde bis ans andere Ende; die werden nicht beklagt noch aufgehoben noch begraben werden, sondern müssen auf dem Felde liegen und zu Dung werden.
And at that day the slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground.
Heulet nun, ihr Hirten, und schreiet, wälzet euch in der Asche, ihr Gewaltigen über die Herde; denn die Zeit ist hier, daß ihr geschlachtet und zerstreut werdet und zerfallen müßt wie ein köstliches Gefäß.
“Wail, shepherds, and cry!
Roll about in the ashes,
You leaders of the flock!
For the days of your slaughter and your dispersions are fulfilled;
You shall fall like a precious vessel.
Roll about in the ashes,

Und die Hirten werden nicht fliehen können, und die Gewaltigen über die Herde werden nicht entrinnen können.
Da werden die Hirten schreien, und die Gewaltigen über die Herde werden heulen, daß der HERR ihre Weide so verwüstet hat
A voice of the cry of the shepherds,
And a wailing of the leaders to the flock will be heard.
For the Lord has plundered their pasture,
And a wailing of the leaders to the flock will be heard.

und ihre Auen, die so wohl standen, verderbt sind vor dem grimmigen Zorn des HERRN.
And the peaceful dwellings are cut down
Because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
