Für den Chormeister. Vom Knecht des HERRN, David, der dem HERRN die Worte dieses Liedes sagte an dem Tag, als ihn der HERR aus der Hand all seiner Feinde und aus der Hand Sauls errettet hatte. Er sprach:

Ein Psalm, vorzusingen, Davids, des Knechtes des HERRN, welcher hat dem HERRN die Worte dieses Liedes geredet zur Zeit, da ihn der HERR errettet hatte von der Hand aller seiner Feinde und von der Hand Sauls,

Von David, dem Diener des HERRN. Er sang das folgende Danklied, nachdem der HERR ihn aus der Gewalt aller Feinde und auch aus der Hand von Saul befreit hatte.
