    These were the sons of [a]Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,

    Die Kinder Juda’s sind: Ger, Onan, Sela. Die drei wurden ihm geboren von der Kanaanitin, der Tochter Suas. Ger aber, der erste Sohn Juda’s, war böse vor dem HERRN; darum tötete er ihn.

    From Judah to David

    The sons of Judah were Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by the daughter of Shua, the Canaanitess. Er, the firstborn of Judah, was wicked in the sight of the Lord; so He killed him.

    Thamar aber, seine Schwiegertochter, gebar ihm Perez und Serah, daß aller Kinder Juda’s waren fünf.

    And Tamar, his daughter-in-law, bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

    Die Kinder des Perez sind: Hezron und Hamul.

    The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

    Die Kinder aber Serahs sind: Simri, Ethan, Heman, Chalkol, Dara. Diese alle sind fünf.

    Die Kinder Charmis sind Achan, welcher Israel betrübte, da er sich am Verbannten vergriff.

    Ram aber zeugte Amminadab. Amminadab zeugte Nahesson, den Fürsten der Kinder Juda.

    Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, leader of the children of Judah;

    Und ihre Schwestern waren: Zeruja und Abigail. Die Kinder Zerujas sind Abisai, Joab, Asahael, die drei.

    Now their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel — three.

    Abigail aber gebar Amasa. Der Vater aber Amasas war Jether, ein Ismaeliter.

    Abigail bore Amasa; and the father of Amasa was [j]Jether the Ishmaelite.

    Kaleb, der Sohn Hezrons, zeugte mit Asuba, seiner Frau, und mit Jerigoth; und dies sind derselben Kinder: Jeser, Sobab und Ardon.

    The Family of Hezron

    Caleb the son of Hezron had children by Azubah, his wife, and by Jerioth. Now these were her sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.

    Da aber Asuba starb, nahm Kaleb Ephrath; die gebar ihm Hur.

    When Azubah died, Caleb [k]took Ephrath[l] as his wife, who bore him Hur.

    Hur zeugte Uri. Uri zeugte Bezaleel.

    And Hur begot Uri, and Uri begot Bezalel.

    Darnach kam Hezron zu der Tochter Machirs, des Vaters Gileads, und er nahm sie, da er 60 Jahre alt war; und sie gebar ihm Segub.

    Now afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was sixty years old; and she bore him Segub.

    Segub aber zeugte Jair; der hatte 23 Städte im Lande Gilead.

    Segub begot Jair,[m] who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.

    Aber die Gessuriter und Syrer nahmen ihnen die Flecken Jairs, dazu Kenath mit seinen Ortschaften, 60 Städte. Diese alle sind Kinder Machirs, des Vaters Gileads.

    (Geshur and Syria took from them the towns of Jair, with Kenath and its towns — sixty towns.) All these belonged to the sons of Machir the father of Gilead.

    Nach dem Tode Hezrons in Kaleb Ephratha gebar Hezrons Weib Abia ihm Ashur, den Vater Thekoas.

    After Hezron died in Caleb Ephrathah, Hezron’s wife Abijah bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

    Jerahmeel, der erste Sohn Hezrons, hatte Kinder: den ersten, Ram, Buna, Oren und Ozem und Ahia.

    The Family of Jerahmeel

    The sons of Jerahmeel, the firstborn of Hezron, were Ram, the firstborn, and Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.

    Und Jerahmeel hatte noch ein anderes Weib, die hieß Atara; die ist die Mutter Onams.

    Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.

    Die Kinder aber Rams, des ersten Sohnes Jerahmeels, sind: Maaz, Jamin und Eker.

    The sons of Ram, the firstborn of Jerahmeel, were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.

    Aber Onam hatte Kinder: Sammai und Jada. Die Kinder aber Sammais sind: Nadab und Abisur.

    The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai were Nadab and Abishur.

    Das Weib aber Abisurs hieß Abihail, die gebar Achban und Molid.

    And the name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail, and she bore him Ahban and Molid.

    Die Kinder aber Nadabs sind: Seled und Appaim; und Seled starb ohne Kinder.

    The sons of Nadab were Seled and Appaim; Seled died without children.

    Die Kinder Appaims sind: Jesei. Die Kinder Jeseis sind: Sesan. Die Kinder Sesans sind: Ahelai.

    The son of Appaim was Ishi, the son of Ishi was Sheshan, and Sheshan’s son was Ahlai.

    Die Kinder aber Jadas, des Bruders Sammais, sind: Jether und Jonathan; Jether aber starb ohne Kinder.

    The sons of Jada, the brother of Shammai, were Jether and Jonathan; Jether died without children.

    Die Kinder aber Jonathans sind: Peleth und Sasa. Das sind die Kinder Jerahmeels.

    The sons of Jonathan were Peleth and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.

    Sesan aber hatte nicht Söhne, sondern Töchter. Und Sesan hatte einen ägyptischen Knecht, der hieß Jarha.

    Now Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. And Sheshan had an Egyptian servant whose name was Jarha.

    Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant as wife, and she bore him Attai.

    Asarja zeugte Helez. Helez zeugte Eleasa.

    Azariah begot Helez, and Helez begot Eleasah;

    Eleasa zeugte Sisemai. Sisemai zeugte Sallum.

    Eleasah begot Sismai, and Sismai begot Shallum;

    Sallum zeugte Jekamja. Jekamja zeugte Elisama.

    Shallum begot Jekamiah, and Jekamiah begot Elishama.

    Die Kinder Kalebs, des Bruders Jerahmeels, sind: Mesa, sein erster Sohn, der ist der Vater Siphs, und die Kinder Maresas, des Vaters Hebrons.

    The Family of Caleb

    The descendants of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel were Mesha, his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron.

    The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.

    Sama aber zeugte Raham, den Vater Jorkeams. Rekem zeugte Sammai.

    Shema begot Raham the father of Jorkoam, and Rekem begot Shammai.

    Der Sohn aber Sammais hieß Maon, und Maon war der Vater Beth–Zurs.

    And the son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth Zur.

    Epha aber, das Kebsweib Kalebs, gebar Haran, Moza und Gases. Haran aber zeugte Gases.

    Ephah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez; and Haran begot Gazez.

    Die Kinder aber Jahdais sind: Regem, Jotham, Gesan, Pelet, Epha und Saaph.

    And the sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.

    Aber Maacha, das Kebsweib Kalebs, gebar Seber und Thirhena

    Maachah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Sheber and Tirhanah.

    und gebar auch Saaph, den Vater Madmannas, und Sewa, den Vater Machbenas und den Vater Gibeas. Aber Achsa war Kalebs Tochter.

    She also bore Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbenah and the father of Gibea. And the daughter of Caleb was Achsah.[n]

    Dies waren die Kinder Kalebs: die Söhne Hurs, des ersten Sohn’s von der Ephratha: Sobal, der Vater Kirjath–Jearims;

    These were the descendants of Caleb: The sons of Hur, the firstborn of [o]Ephrathah, were Shobal the father of Kirjath Jearim,

    Salma, den Vater Bethlehems; Hareph, der Vater Bethgaders.

    Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth Gader.

    Und Sobal, der Vater Kirjath–Jearims, hatte Söhne: Haroe und die Hälfte der Manahthiter.

    And Shobal the father of Kirjath Jearim had descendants: [p]Haroeh, and half of the [q]families of Manuhoth.

    Die Freundschaften aber zu Kirjath–Jearim waren die Jethriter, Puthiter, Sumathiter und Misraiter. Von diesen sind ausgegangen die Zorathiter und Esthaoliter.

    The families of Kirjath Jearim were the Ithrites, the Puthites, the Shumathites, and the Mishraites. From these came the Zorathites and the Eshtaolites.

    Die Kinder Salmas sind Bethlehem und die Netophathiter, Atharoth des Hauses Joabs und die Hälfte der Manahthiter, das sind die Zoraiter.

    The sons of Salma were Bethlehem, the Netophathites, [r]Atroth Beth Joab, half of the Manahethites, and the Zorites.

    Und die Freundschaften der Schreiber, die zu Jabez wohnten, sind die Thireathiter, Simeathiter, Suchathiter. Das sind die Kiniter, die da gekommen sind von Hammath, dem Vater des Hauses Rechabs.

    And the families of the scribes who dwelt at Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Suchathites. These were the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.
