Wieder empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sprach zu mir:
Lament over Tyre
Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me saying,

»Du Mensch, stimm ein Klagelied über Tyrus an!
“And you, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre;
Sag zu der Stadt, die den Zugang zum Meer beherrscht und mit vielen Küstenvölkern Handel treibt: So spricht Gott, der HERR: Tyrus, du behauptest, von vollendeter Schönheit zu sein.
and say to Tyre, who dwells at the entrance to the sea, merchant of the peoples to many coastlands, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,
“O Tyre, you have said, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’
“O Tyre, you have said, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’
Das Meer ist dein Zuhause, und deine Erbauer haben dich wunderschön wie ein Schiff gestaltet:
“Your borders are in the heart of the seas;
Your builders have perfected your beauty.

Deine Planken bauten sie mit Zypressenholz vom Senir, den Mast fertigten sie aus Zedern vom Libanon an.
“They have made all your planks of fir trees from Senir;
They have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you.

Für deine Ruder nahmen sie Eichen aus Baschan, das Deck bauten sie mit Wacholderholz aus Zypern und verkleideten es mit Elfenbein.

Aus Ägypten kam das feine Leinen für die Segel, die bunten Farben leuchteten weithin. Für das Sonnensegel wurde violetter und roter Purpur aus Elischa verwendet.

Die Bewohner von Sidon und Arwad waren deine Ruderer, und fähige Männer aus deiner Mitte arbeiteten als Matrosen.

Söldner aus Persien, Lydien und Libyen dienten in deinem Heer, ihre Schilde und Helme verliehen dir Glanz.
“Persia and Lud and Put were in your army, your men of war. They hung shield and helmet in you; they set forth your splendor.
Männer aus Arwad verteidigten deine Mauern zusammen mit deinen eigenen Soldaten, und Gammaditer bewachten deine Türme; ihre Schilde hängten sie ringsum an deinen Mauern auf. So machten sie deine Schönheit vollkommen.
“The sons of Arvad and your army were on your walls, all around, and the Gammadim were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all around; they perfected your beauty.
Du warst eine reiche Stadt; viele Güter konnte man bei dir kaufen. Tarsis bot dir dafür Silber, Eisen, Zinn und Blei.
“Tarshish was your customer because of the abundance of all kinds of wealth; with silver, iron, tin and lead they paid for your wares.
Händler aus Jawan, aus Tubal und Meschech kauften bei dir und brachten dir dafür Sklaven und Gegenstände aus Kupfer.
“Javan, Tubal and Meshech, they were your traders; with the lives of men and vessels of bronze they paid for your merchandise.
Die Bewohner von Bet-Togarma tauschten deine Waren gegen Zugpferde, Reitpferde und Maultiere.
“Those from Beth-togarmah gave horses and war horses and mules for your wares.
Die Kaufleute von Rhodos und vielen anderen Inseln brachten dir Elefantenzähne und Ebenholz.
“The sons of Dedan were your traders. Many coastlands were your market; ivory tusks and ebony they brought as your payment.
Die Syrer kauften viele deiner reichen Güter und gaben dir dafür roten Purpur, bunte Stoffe, feines Leinen, Korallen, Rubine und andere Edelsteine.
“Aram was your customer because of the abundance of your goods; they paid for your wares with emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral and rubies.
Juda und Israel tauschten deine Waren gegen Weizen aus Minnit, Hirse, Honig, Öl und duftendes Harz.
“Judah and the land of Israel, they were your traders; with the wheat of Minnith, cakes, honey, oil and balm they paid for your merchandise.
Die Bewohner von Damaskus boten dir Wein aus Helbon und Wolle aus Zahar und bekamen dafür zahlreiche Schätze aus deinem großen Besitz.
“Damascus was your customer because of the abundance of your goods, because of the abundance of all kinds of wealth, because of the wine of Helbon and white wool.
Die Leute von Wedan und Jawan aus dem Gebiet von Usal gaben dir Gegenstände aus Eisen sowie Zimt und andere Gewürze.
“Vedan and Javan paid for your wares from Uzal; wrought iron, cassia and sweet cane were among your merchandise.
Dedan tauschte deine Waren gegen Satteldecken ein.
“Dedan traded with you in saddlecloths for riding.
Die Fürsten von Arabien und Kedar gaben dir Lämmer, Schaf- und Ziegenböcke.
“Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, they were your customers for lambs, rams and goats; for these they were your customers.
Die Kaufleute von Saba und Ragma brachten dir die besten Balsamöle, allerlei Edelsteine und Gold.
“The traders of Sheba and Raamah, they traded with you; they paid for your wares with the best of all kinds of spices, and with all kinds of precious stones and gold.
Haran, Kanne, Eden, die Händler von Saba, Assyrien und Kilmad — sie alle trieben Handel mit dir.
“Haran, Canneh, Eden, the traders of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad traded with you.
Prächtige Gewänder boten sie dir, Mäntel aus violettem Purpur, bunte Stoffe, mehrfarbige Teppiche und gedrehte, feste Seile.
“They traded with you in choice garments, in clothes of blue and embroidered work, and in carpets of many colors and tightly wound cords, which were among your merchandise.
Die Handelsschiffe kamen in großen Flotten zu dir und brachten deine Waren überallhin. So wurdest du immer reicher — ein voll beladenes Schiff mitten im Meer.
“The ships of Tarshish were the carriers for your merchandise.

Deine Ruderer fuhren mit dir über die hohe See. Doch es dauert nicht mehr lange, da wirst du mitten auf dem Meer vom Ostwind erfasst und zerbrochen!

Alles, was dir gehört, stürzt dann in die Fluten: deine Waren, deine Seeleute und Matrosen, die Männer, die deine Lecks ausbessern, deine Kaufleute und Soldaten. Ja, wenn du fällst, versinkt deine ganze Pracht mit dir im Meer.
“Your wealth, your wares, your merchandise,

Die Küsten erzittern, wenn sie das laute Geschrei deiner Besatzung hören.

Die Haare scheren sie sich ab und hüllen sich in Trauergewänder, sie vergießen bittere Tränen und halten die Totenklage über dich.

Ja, in ihrem Schmerz stimmen sie ein Klagelied an: ›Was auf der Welt konnte man mit Tyrus vergleichen, dieser Stadt, die nun totenstill im Meer ruht?

Als deine Kaufleute über die Ozeane segelten, haben sie vielen Völkern Schätze gebracht. Deine Waren ließen Könige aus allen Winkeln der Erde zu großem Reichtum gelangen.
‘When your wares went out from the seas,
You satisfied many peoples;
With the abundance of your wealth and your merchandise
You enriched the kings of earth.

Jetzt aber bist du zerbrochen und in den Tiefen des Meeres versunken. Deine Güter und dein ganzer Reichtum — nichts ist mehr davon zu sehen!

Die Bewohner der Küstenländer sind über dein Schicksal entsetzt, ihren Königen stehen die Haare zu Berge, das Grauen ist ihnen ins Gesicht geschrieben.
