Dies sind die letzten Worte Davids: Es sprach David der Sohn Isais, es sprach der Mann, der hoch erhoben ist, der Gesalbte des Gottes Jakobs, lieblich mit Psalmen Israels.
Der Geist des HERRN hat durch mich geredet, und seine Rede ist auf meiner Zunge.

Es hat der Gott Israels zu mir gesprochen, der Hort Israels hat geredet: Ein Gerechter herrscht unter den Menschen, er herrscht mit der Furcht Gottes
The God of Israel has spoken;
the Rock of Israel has said to me:

ruling in the fear of God,

und ist wie das Licht des Morgens, wenn die Sonne aufgeht, am Morgen ohne Wolken, da vom Glanz nach dem Regen das Gras aus der Erde wächst.
Denn ist mein Haus nicht also bei Gott? Denn er hat mir einen ewigen Bund gesetzt, der in allem wohl geordnet und gehalten wird. All mein Heil und all mein Begehren, das wird er wachsen lassen.

Aber die heillosen Leute sind allesamt wie die ausgeworfenen Disteln, die man nicht mit Händen fassen kann;
sondern wer sie angreifen soll, muß Eisen und Spießstange in der Hand haben; sie werden mit Feuer verbrannt an ihrem Ort.
Dies sind die Namen der Helden Davids: Jasobeam, der Sohn Hachmonis, ein Vornehmster unter den Rittern; er hob seinen Spieß auf und schlug 800 auf einmal.
Nach ihm war Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, des Sohnes Ahohis, unter den drei Helden mit David. Da sie Hohn sprachen den Philistern und daselbst versammelt waren zum Streit und die Männer Israels hinaufzogen,
And next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar the son of Dodo, son of Ahohi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel withdrew.
da stand er und schlug die Philister, bis daß seine Hand müde am Schwert erstarrte. Und der HERR gab ein großes Heil zu der Zeit, daß das Volk umwandte ihm nach, zu rauben.
He rose and struck down the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clung to the sword. And the Lord brought about a great victory that day, and the men returned after him only to strip the slain.
Nach ihm war Samma, der Sohn Ages, des Harariters. Da die Philister sich versammelten in eine Rotte, und war daselbst ein Stück Acker voll Linsen, und das Volk floh vor den Philistern,
da trat er mitten auf das Stück und errettete es und schlug die Philister; und Gott gab ein großes Heil.
But he took his stand in the midst of the plot and defended it and struck down the Philistines, and the Lord worked a great victory.
Und diese drei Vornehmsten unter 30 kamen hinab in der Ernte zu David in die Höhle Adullam, und die Rotte der Philister lag im Grund Rephaim.
And three of the thirty chief men went down and came about harvest time to David at the cave of Adullam, when a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.
David aber war dazumal an sicherem Ort; aber der Philister Volk lag zu Bethlehem.
David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then at Bethlehem.
Und David ward lüstern und sprach: Wer will mir Wasser zu trinken holen aus dem Brunnen zu Bethlehem unter dem Tor?
And David said longingly, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!”
Da brachen die drei Helden ins Lager der Philister und schöpften Wasser aus dem Brunnen zu Bethlehem unter dem Tor und trugen’s und brachten’s David. Aber er wollte es nicht trinken, sondern goß es aus dem HERRN
Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and carried and brought it to David. But he would not drink of it. He poured it out to the Lord
und sprach: Das lasse der HERR fern von mir sein, daß ich das tue! Ist’s nicht das Blut der Männer, die ihr Leben gewagt haben und dahin gegangen sind? Und wollte es nicht trinken. Das taten die drei Helden.
and said, “Far be it from me, O Lord, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of the men who went at the risk of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.
Abisai, Joabs Bruder, der Zeruja Sohn, war auch ein Vornehmster unter den Rittern: er hob seinen Spieß auf und schlug 300, und war auch berühmt unter dreien
und der Herrlichste unter dreien und war ihr Oberster; aber er kam nicht bis an jene drei.
Und Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, des Sohnes Is–Hails, von großen Taten, von Kabzeel, der schlug zwei Helden der Moabiter und ging hinab und schlug einen Löwen im Brunnen zur Schneezeit.
Und schlug auch einen ägyptischen ansehnlichen Mann, der hatte einen Spieß in seiner Hand. Er aber ging zu ihm hinab mit einem Stecken und riß dem Ägypter den Spieß aus der Hand und erwürgte ihn mit seinem eigenen Spieß.
And he struck down an Egyptian, a handsome man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but Benaiah went down to him with a staff and snatched the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.
Das tat Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, und war berühmt unter den drei Helden
These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and won a name beside the three mighty men.
und herrlicher denn die 30; aber er kam nicht bis an jene drei. Und David machte ihn zum heimlichen Rat.
He was renowned among the thirty, but he did not attain to the three. And David set him over his bodyguard.

Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

Abieser, der Anathothiter; Mebunnai, der Husathiter;
Abiezer of Anathoth, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
Heleb, der Sohn Baanas, der Netophathiter; Itthai, der Sohn Ribais, von Gibea der Kinder Benjamin;
Heleb the son of Baanah of Netophah, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the people of Benjamin,
Benaja, der Pirathoniter; Hiddai, von Nahale–Gaas;
Benaiah of Pirathon, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
Abi–Albon, der Arbathiter; Asmaveth, der Barhumiter;
Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth of Bahurim,
Eljahba, der Saalboniter; die Kinder Jasen und Jonathan;
Eliahba the Shaalbonite, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
Samma, der Harariter; Ahiam, der Sohn Sarars, der Harariter;
Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,
Eliphelet, der Sohn Ahasbais, des Maachathiters; Eliam, der Sohn Ahithophels, des Giloniters;
Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai of Maacah, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
Jigeal, der Sohn Nathans, von Zoba; Bani, der Gaditer;
Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
Zelek, der Ammoniter; Naharai, der Beerothiter, der Waffenträger Joabs, des Sohnes der Zeruja;
