Und es geschah, während sie darüber ratlos waren, siehe, da traten zwei Männer in leuchtenden Gewändern zu ihnen.
While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing;
Die Frauen erschraken und blickten zu Boden. Die Männer aber sagten zu ihnen: Was sucht ihr den Lebenden bei den Toten?
and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?

“He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee,

saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”
Und sie kehrten vom Grab zurück und berichteten das alles den Elf und allen Übrigen.
and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
Es waren Maria von Magdala, Johanna und Maria, die Mutter des Jakobus, und die übrigen Frauen mit ihnen. Sie erzählten es den Aposteln.
Now they were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to the apostles.
Doch die Apostel hielten diese Reden für Geschwätz und glaubten ihnen nicht.
But these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them.
Petrus aber stand auf und lief zum Grab. Er beugte sich vor, sah aber nur die Leinenbinden. Dann ging er nach Hause, voll Verwunderung über das, was geschehen war.
But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.
Und siehe, am gleichen Tag waren zwei von den Jüngern auf dem Weg in ein Dorf namens Emmaus, das sechzig Stadien von Jerusalem entfernt ist.
The Road to Emmaus
And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.
Sie sprachen miteinander über all das, was sich ereignet hatte.
And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place.
Und es geschah, während sie redeten und ihre Gedanken austauschten, kam Jesus selbst hinzu und ging mit ihnen.
While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them.

But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.
Er fragte sie: Was sind das für Dinge, über die ihr auf eurem Weg miteinander redet? Da blieben sie traurig stehen
And He said to them, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad.
und der eine von ihnen — er hieß Kleopas — antwortete ihm: Bist du so fremd in Jerusalem, dass du als Einziger nicht weißt, was in diesen Tagen dort geschehen ist?
One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?”
Er fragte sie: Was denn? Sie antworteten ihm: Das mit Jesus aus Nazaret. Er war ein Prophet, mächtig in Tat und Wort vor Gott und dem ganzen Volk.
And He said to them, “What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,
Doch unsere Hohepriester und Führer haben ihn zum Tod verurteilen und ans Kreuz schlagen lassen.
and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him.
Wir aber hatten gehofft, dass er der sei, der Israel erlösen werde. Und dazu ist heute schon der dritte Tag, seitdem das alles geschehen ist.
“But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened.
Doch auch einige Frauen aus unserem Kreis haben uns in große Aufregung versetzt. Sie waren in der Frühe beim Grab,
“But also some women among us amazed us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning,
fanden aber seinen Leichnam nicht. Als sie zurückkamen, erzählten sie, es seien ihnen Engel erschienen und hätten gesagt, er lebe.
and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive.
Einige von uns gingen dann zum Grab und fanden alles so, wie die Frauen gesagt hatten; ihn selbst aber sahen sie nicht.
“Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.”
Da sagte er zu ihnen: Ihr Unverständigen, deren Herz zu träge ist, um alles zu glauben, was die Propheten gesagt haben.
And He said to them, “O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!
Musste nicht der Christus das erleiden und so in seine Herrlichkeit gelangen?
“Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?”
Und er legte ihnen dar, ausgehend von Mose und allen Propheten, was in der gesamten Schrift über ihn geschrieben steht.
Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
So erreichten sie das Dorf, zu dem sie unterwegs waren. Jesus tat, als wolle er weitergehen,
And they approached the village where they were going, and He acted as though He were going farther.
aber sie drängten ihn und sagten: Bleibe bei uns; denn es wird Abend, der Tag hat sich schon geneigt! Da ging er mit hinein, um bei ihnen zu bleiben.
But they urged Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day is now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them.
Und es geschah, als er mit ihnen bei Tisch war, nahm er das Brot, sprach den Lobpreis, brach es und gab es ihnen.
When He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them.
Da wurden ihre Augen aufgetan und sie erkannten ihn; und er entschwand ihren Blicken.
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.
Und sie sagten zueinander: Brannte nicht unser Herz in uns, als er unterwegs mit uns redete und uns den Sinn der Schriften eröffnete?
They said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?”
Noch in derselben Stunde brachen sie auf und kehrten nach Jerusalem zurück und sie fanden die Elf und die mit ihnen versammelt waren.
And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them,
Diese sagten: Der Herr ist wirklich auferstanden und ist dem Simon erschienen.
saying, “The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon.”
Da erzählten auch sie, was sie unterwegs erlebt und wie sie ihn erkannt hatten, als er das Brot brach.
They began to relate their experiences on the road and how He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.
Während sie noch darüber redeten, trat er selbst in ihre Mitte und sagte zu ihnen: Friede sei mit euch!
Other Appearances
While they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be to you.”
Sie erschraken und hatten große Angst, denn sie meinten, einen Geist zu sehen.
But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit.
Da sagte er zu ihnen: Was seid ihr so bestürzt? Warum lasst ihr in eurem Herzen Zweifel aufkommen?
And He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
Seht meine Hände und meine Füße an: Ich bin es selbst. Fasst mich doch an und begreift: Kein Geist hat Fleisch und Knochen, wie ihr es bei mir seht.
“See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”
Bei diesen Worten zeigte er ihnen seine Hände und Füße.
And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
Als sie es aber vor Freude immer noch nicht glauben konnten und sich verwunderten, sagte er zu ihnen: Habt ihr etwas zu essen hier?
While they still could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”
Dann sagte er zu ihnen: Das sind meine Worte, die ich zu euch gesprochen habe, als ich noch bei euch war: Alles muss in Erfüllung gehen, was im Gesetz des Mose, bei den Propheten und in den Psalmen über mich geschrieben steht.
Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
Darauf öffnete er ihren Sinn für das Verständnis der Schriften.
Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,
Er sagte zu ihnen: So steht es geschrieben: Der Christus wird leiden und am dritten Tag von den Toten auferstehen
and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,
und in seinem Namen wird man allen Völkern Umkehr verkünden, damit ihre Sünden vergeben werden. Angefangen in Jerusalem,
and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
Und siehe, ich werde die Verheißung meines Vaters auf euch herabsenden. Ihr aber bleibt in der Stadt, bis ihr mit der Kraft aus der Höhe erfüllt werdet!
“And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
Dann führte er sie hinaus in die Nähe von Betanien. Dort erhob er seine Hände und segnete sie.
The Ascension
And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
Und es geschah, während er sie segnete, verließ er sie und wurde zum Himmel emporgehoben.
While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.
Sie aber fielen vor ihm nieder. Dann kehrten sie in großer Freude nach Jerusalem zurück.
And they, after worshiping Him, returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
