Du hüllst dich in Licht wie in einen Mantel, du spannst den Himmel aus gleich einem Zelt.
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
Du verankerst die Balken deiner Wohnung im Wasser. Du nimmst dir die Wolken zum Wagen, du fährst einher auf den Flügeln des Windes.
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
Du machst die Winde zu deinen Boten, zu deinen Dienern Feuer und Flamme.
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Du hast die Erde auf Pfeiler gegründet, in alle Ewigkeit wird sie nicht wanken.
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
Einst hat die Urflut sie bedeckt wie ein Kleid, die Wasser standen über den Bergen.
Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
Sie wichen vor deinem Drohen zurück, sie flohen vor der Stimme deines Donners.
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
Sie stiegen die Berge hinauf, sie flossen hinab in die Täler an den Ort, den du für sie bestimmt hast.
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
Eine Grenze hast du gesetzt, die dürfen sie nicht überschreiten, nie wieder sollen sie die Erde bedecken.
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
Du lässt Quellen sprudeln in Bäche, sie eilen zwischen den Bergen dahin.
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
Sie tränken alle Tiere des Feldes, die Wildesel stillen ihren Durst.
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
Darüber wohnen die Vögel des Himmels, aus den Zweigen erklingt ihr Gesang.
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
Du tränkst die Berge aus deinen Kammern, von der Frucht deiner Werke wird die Erde satt.
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
Du lässt Gras wachsen für das Vieh und Pflanzen für den Ackerbau des Menschen, damit er Brot gewinnt von der Erde
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
und Wein, der das Herz des Menschen erfreut, damit er das Angesicht erglänzen lässt mit Öl und Brot das Herz des Menschen stärkt.
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.
Die Bäume des HERRN trinken sich satt, die Zedern des Libanon, die er gepflanzt hat,
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
dort bauen die Vögel ihr Nest, auf den Zypressen nistet der Storch.
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
Die hohen Berge gehören dem Steinbock, dem Klippdachs bieten die Felsen Zuflucht.
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
Du machst den Mond zum Maß für die Zeiten, die Sonne weiß, wann sie untergeht.
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
Du sendest Finsternis und es wird Nacht, dann regen sich alle Tiere des Waldes.
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
Die jungen Löwen brüllen nach Beute, sie verlangen von Gott ihre Nahrung.
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
Strahlt die Sonne dann auf, so schleichen sie heim und lagern sich in ihren Verstecken.
The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
Nun geht der Mensch hinaus an sein Tagwerk, an seine Arbeit bis zum Abend.
Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
Wie zahlreich sind deine Werke, HERR, sie alle hast du mit Weisheit gemacht, die Erde ist voll von deinen Geschöpfen.
O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
Da ist das Meer, so groß und weit, darin ein Gewimmel, nicht zu zählen: kleine und große Tiere.
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
Dort ziehen die Schiffe dahin, der Leviatan, den du geformt, um mit ihm zu spielen.
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.
Auf dich warten sie alle, dass du ihnen ihre Speise gibst zur rechten Zeit.
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
Gibst du ihnen, dann sammeln sie ein, öffnest du deine Hand, werden sie gesättigt mit Gutem.
That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
Verbirgst du dein Angesicht, sind sie verstört, nimmst du ihnen den Atem, so schwinden sie hin und kehren zurück zum Staub.
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
Du sendest deinen Geist aus: Sie werden erschaffen und du erneuerst das Angesicht der Erde.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
Die Herrlichkeit des HERRN währe ewig, der HERR freue sich seiner Werke.
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
Er blickt herab auf die Erde und sie erbebt, er rührt die Berge an und sie rauchen.
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
Ich will dem HERRN singen in meinem Leben, meinem Gott singen und spielen, solange ich da bin.
I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
Möge ihm mein Dichten gefallen. Ich will mich freuen am HERRN.
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
