And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
In Jerusalem aber wohnten Juden, fromme Männer aus allen Völkern unter dem Himmel.

von Phrygien und Pamphylien, von Ägypten und dem Gebiet Libyens nach Kyrene hin, auch die Römer, die sich hier aufhalten,
Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome,
Juden und Proselyten, Kreter und Araber — wir hören sie in unseren Sprachen Gottes große Taten verkünden.
both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians — we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.”
Alle gerieten außer sich und waren ratlos. Die einen sagten zueinander: Was hat das zu bedeuten?
And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”
Andere aber spotteten: Sie sind vom süßen Wein betrunken.
But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”
Da trat Petrus auf, zusammen mit den Elf; er erhob seine Stimme und begann zu reden: Ihr Juden und alle Bewohner von Jerusalem! Dies sollt ihr wissen, achtet auf meine Worte!

Diese Männer sind nicht betrunken, wie ihr meint; es ist ja erst die dritte Stunde am Tag;
sondern jetzt geschieht, was durch den Propheten Joël gesagt worden ist:

In den letzten Tagen wird es geschehen, / so spricht Gott: Ich werde von meinem Geist ausgießen über alles Fleisch. Eure Söhne und eure Töchter werden prophetisch reden, eure jungen Männer werden Visionen haben und eure Alten werden Träume haben.

that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;

Auch über meine Knechte und Mägde werde ich von meinem Geist ausgießen in jenen Tagen und sie werden prophetisch reden.

Die Sonne wird sich in Finsternis verwandeln und der Mond in Blut, ehe der Tag des Herrn kommt, der große und herrliche Tag.

Und es wird geschehen: Jeder, der den Namen des Herrn anruft, wird gerettet werden.

Israeliten, hört diese Worte: Jesus, den Nazoräer, einen Mann, den Gott vor euch beglaubigt hat durch Machttaten, Wunder und Zeichen, die er durch ihn in eurer Mitte getan hat, wie ihr selbst wisst —
“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know —
ihn, der nach Gottes beschlossenem Willen und Vorauswissen hingegeben wurde, habt ihr durch die Hand von Gesetzlosen ans Kreuz geschlagen und umgebracht.
Gott aber hat ihn von den Wehen des Todes befreit und auferweckt; denn es war unmöglich, dass er vom Tod festgehalten wurde.
God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
David nämlich sagt über ihn: Ich hatte den Herrn beständig vor Augen. Denn er steht mir zur Rechten, dass ich nicht wanke.
For David says concerning him,
“‘I saw the Lord always before me,
for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;
“‘I saw the Lord always before me,

Darum freute sich mein Herz und frohlockte meine Zunge und auch mein Leib wird in Hoffnung wohnen;
therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;
my flesh also will dwell in hope.

Brüder, ich darf freimütig zu euch über den Patriarchen David reden: Er starb und wurde begraben und sein Grabmal ist bei uns erhalten bis auf den heutigen Tag.
“Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Da er ein Prophet war und wusste, dass Gott ihm einen Eid geschworen hatte, einer von seinen Nachkommen werde auf seinem Thron sitzen,
Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,
sagte er vorausschauend über die Auferstehung des Christus: Er gab ihn nicht der Unterwelt preis und sein Leib schaute die Verwesung nicht.
he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
Diesen Jesus hat Gott auferweckt, dafür sind wir alle Zeugen.
This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.
Zur Rechten Gottes erhöht, hat er vom Vater den verheißenen Heiligen Geist empfangen und ihn ausgegossen, wie ihr seht und hört.
Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
Denn nicht David ist zum Himmel aufgestiegen; vielmehr sagt er selbst: Es sprach der Herr zu meinem Herrn: Setze dich mir zur Rechten
For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
und ich lege dir deine Feinde als Schemel unter die Füße.
until I make your enemies your footstool.”’
Mit Gewissheit erkenne also das ganze Haus Israel: Gott hat ihn zum Herrn und Christus gemacht, diesen Jesus, den ihr gekreuzigt habt.
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”
Als sie das hörten, traf es sie mitten ins Herz und sie sagten zu Petrus und den übrigen Aposteln: Was sollen wir tun, Brüder?
Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
Petrus antwortete ihnen: Kehrt um und jeder von euch lasse sich auf den Namen Jesu Christi taufen zur Vergebung eurer Sünden; dann werdet ihr die Gabe des Heiligen Geistes empfangen.
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Denn euch und euren Kindern gilt die Verheißung und all denen in der Ferne, die der Herr, unser Gott, herbeirufen wird.
For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Mit noch vielen anderen Worten beschwor und ermahnte er sie: Lasst euch retten aus diesem verdorbenen Geschlecht!
And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”
Die nun, die sein Wort annahmen, ließen sich taufen. An diesem Tag wurden ihrer Gemeinschaft etwa dreitausend Menschen hinzugefügt.
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Sie hielten an der Lehre der Apostel fest und an der Gemeinschaft, am Brechen des Brotes und an den Gebeten.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Alle wurden von Furcht ergriffen; und durch die Apostel geschahen viele Wunder und Zeichen.
Und alle, die glaubten, waren an demselben Ort und hatten alles gemeinsam.
And all who believed were together and had all things in common.
Sie verkauften Hab und Gut und teilten davon allen zu, jedem so viel, wie er nötig hatte.
And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.
Tag für Tag verharrten sie einmütig im Tempel, brachen in ihren Häusern das Brot und hielten miteinander Mahl in Freude und Lauterkeit des Herzens.
And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,
